All of a sudden my computer which runs XP has quit recognizing my Samsung YP-T10 MP3 player. It goes all the way through the "recognition of the hardware and Setup Wizard" then when it starts to transfer the files/drivers, it give an error and says "The specified service does not exist as an installed device." Please help???
Glad to hear it's now working fine.
From reading all the tests that u ve done to refresh/revive ur Mp3 player i can say that u r officilay facing a problem with Flash Chip or the memory circuit this one include the F/W.
if this one is damaged the firmware cant be insatlled in the device.
one thing that i can say:
if u want to solve ur prob u gonna need a lot of tools that cost much more that ur device!!
especially the mEMORY CHIP§§
IF U STILL UNDER WARRANTTLY BE QUICK LIL BUDDY!!!

Something worth a shot is to add the device manually through controlpanel. You can select add hardware and follow the on screeninstructions.
great for beginners

Hi,
Try connecting your player
to another USB port. Using one port all the time to connect and
disconnect USB items a port can develop a range of files associated
with configuring the USB connection. Some of these files might actually
have been from your player connected before, or some of these
configurations could be from other USB items you connect to this port.
Changing ports can often lead to an immediate good connection simply
because there are no conflicting configuration files. If this does not
solve your problem, we can now entertain the next process to try.
THIS
IS A BIG ONE. This is the last thing to do. Before you try this
process, please complete a full back up of your system. This is
important as the next step can have side effects you did not entirely
expect. AND Second, you might need your XP Install Disk (not in all
cases). What this process is about is renewing all hardware/software
configurations relating to USB connections.
Here is what you do:
1. Right click MY COMPUTER
2. Select PROPERTIES
3. Select HARDWARE
4. Select DEVICE MANAGER
5. Select UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS
6. Right click on each USB CONTROLLER and select Uninstall
7. Uninstall all entries
8. Reboot your computer
9. As your computer re-boots it will reinstall all USB connections it detects.
THEN, when all other USB items have been configured and connected by the system, you then should try connecting your USB Player.
If
these suggestions are implemented and you are still having connection
difficulties with your computer, there are several other things to try.
If you have another XP Computer you should try connecting your player
to another computer to see if the problem is a player problem or not.
Goodluck,
Please don't forget to accept the solution.
Hello,
Sorry you have had to go through all this and was instructed to format the MP3 player as well as that would have no affect on your problem.
As you MP3 player is read ok on another player. My suggestion is to download the firmware, transfer it to a CD and move to another computer where your player is recognized and then flash the player.
When you remove a piece of hardware and uninstall the drivers in suport of that, it is important that you run a System Registry Cleaner to remove unwanted left overs that have an affect on reattaching the hardware later.
Today, I recommend the SS Registry Fixer program that is free to use. Use this link to download the Cleaner and then run it after removing the player's software and rebooting before reattaching.
This should give you the best chance at using your Player again. And, running System Restore will not have an impact on installed hardware.
Regards,
Worldvet
Did you try a different USB cord?
Try this:
1. Open the Registry Editor. (Click Start and Run regedit.exe)
2. Go to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BBBFC1
-08002BE10318}
3. Right click the above key, choose Export and save the file as backup.reg.
4. Delete the LowerFilters value in the right panel. (NOTE: Under the key, there
are also some sub keys such as 0000, 0001. Please double click them and delete the
LowerFilters value.)
5. Restart the computer.
If this still does not work, please perform a Clean Boot to narrow down the problem.
1. Click Start, and click Run msconfig. The System Configuration Utility appears.
2. In the General tab, click Selective Startup.
3. Uncheck the processing options that are listed below Selective Startup except "Load System Services."
4. Click Apply, and then click Close.
5. Restart the computer and test if the issue persists.

opps didn't see this is posted before....
Try this:http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices...
you can uninstall old USB devices see if the mp3 shows up.
When you plug it in does a name show up in Device Manager?
If it does find that name in Regedit (Registry) and delete the entry for it.

U have to go with a good technision
Have you tried all of your USB ports? if so, try the hardware manager. see if you get get your PC to detect it manually.
Have a look in Computer Management in Administrative Tools. I had a
problem like this and it seemed the PC was naming the MP3 player D
drive which was the same as my CD ROM drive so I had to assign it a
different letter then it worked.
in the tool bar, open up/right click "safely remove hardware" find your
mp3 drivers there delete them.. then re-connect the player... when it
goes ''Bing-bong'' it will show new player found,,, and then say "item
is installed and ready to use'' and you should find it in 'my computer'
When u connect your MP3 to the computer, the computer just recognises it, that's all.... The computer does nothing after it!
If u want to do something else you need to do it yourself.
If you want to transfer some music from the PC to you MP3 you need to find the MP3 on your computer.
It normally appears as E:/ or F:/ or as a Creative or whatever...
Once you have found your MP3 on the computer, you need to drag and drop the music on the MP3... that's all!

Look in Prog Files/Samsung/Samsung Media Studio/temp2/firmware - the cab file contains the upgrade files. Copy then across to the T10.
Unplug the T10 and switch back on, it should update the firmware. Switch it back on each time it switches off until the update is complete.
hope this may help;

Hi,
Initially, pls try an other USB device such as a printer, flashdisk or a digicam. The purpose is to determine if the fault is in the USB port(s) of the PC or the Samsung YP-T10.
Assuming the other USB devices work and therefore makes the YP-T10 the
probable at fault, the issue could possibly be the firmware of the
Samsung MP3 player.
Useful downloads and utilities/software for your YP-T10 are:
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
You can checj this site for some steps that you can do for this concern

Hope that helps.........
Try also to connect the mp3 player ona different usb port on your laptop and make sure the connection is tight while the transfering of files is going through....
If still the same problem this can be cause by a registry problem so try to run a registry cleaner/fixer you can download it from here http://www.freeregistryfix.com/ then after you run it try again to check if the player will work fine with this computer...

Usually you fix this disconnecting power plug for two minutes and plugging it back
The exact procedure is:
Unplug usb cable.
Unplug power cord.
Wait two or three minutes.
Connect everything back.t
The procedure does not really works as an hard reset, in meaning that fixes problem by resetting computer, but apparently this get rid of electrostatic charge problems on usb.
try it, if it does not work it is a USB driver problem, you fix it reinstalling Windows.
If it is a laptop disconnect power and remove battery for two minutes, often it fix it.'do procedure above but also remove battery when you unplug power adapter.
try connecting mp3 to a different computer, if it works the firmware has got nothing to do with this.
Did you try unplugging all and removing battery at same time?
Does the laptop recognizes other usb devices? If not Is a problem with Windows USB , easiest way to fix it is by reinstalling windows.
Try also doing a system restore to a date before you had the problem. You find system restore on
Start menu
All programs
Accessories
System tools
System restore
then follow the wizard.
Test the mp3 on a different computer, so that we know if problem is with mp3 unit.
If it connects to a different computer, then is your Operative system (windows) having troubles with device software.
In this case, if driver reinstall and system restore did not work, only solution is reinstalling Windows, unless mp3 is faulty, but I don't think so.
Yes, if it works on a different PC you need to reinstall system.
You can start doing an update installation, starting system reinstall on Windows and installing Windows on same folder. This will preserve your files, and some settings and most of the software.
If update installation does not work you will need to perform a complete setup, formatting HDD, or using a different Windows folder. You will need to reinstall all software and drivers after this.
Do a complete backup of your files before reinstalling Windows.
You have to reinstall system that is all.
Good to know, thanks.

Usually answered in minutes!
I am connecting this on a laptop and have tried it several times over the last couple days. I do not think this is the problem.
I got this MP3 for Christmas and it has recognized it since then until a few days ago. I cannot for the life of me pinpoint what has happened differently.
I have tried downloading the firmware, but cannot get it on the MP3 player becasue the system will not see it.
This did not help.
I removed the battery. Uplugged it, and waited... No luck, still went through same cycle...
Recognizes T-10
Recognizes MTP Device
Asks to install drivers
Gives error message.
I did try plugging this into another computer, and it recognized it and set it right up and you could see the drive...
VOTIT - If I format the device, and my computer will not see it, how will I get the new firmware on the MP3 player?
I will lose the songs, etc that I already have on there won't I?
I went back to the furthest restore point I could find and it still does not see it...
Last update to XP was 7/9/08... Should I try to delete this? I am not 100% I have tried to connect my MP3 to the computer between now and then...
It is not the USB port, I have tried multiple ports and none of them work...
This did not fix it, now unfortunately I have formatted my MP3 player and ther is no music at all on it now...
ok, that was not any help...
It has a specific connector, but it charges it and shows on the player it is connected...
have tried this several different ways and it does not work...

Good info, but did not solve the problem
Good info to know, but did not solve problem...
Yes, does work on another computer...
I am travelling at the moment, so I suppose I will have to try to reinstall windows when I return home...
ok, will do it when i get home thanks...
tried uninstalling, but still will not install it... for some reason it cannot read the driver on the MP3 player for some reason...
I tried this, I have the latest version of the firmware on my player, it starts up fine, ran the registry cleaner, and still the same result... Computer will not install it.. Gives me an MTP Device install error...
I have solved this problem on my own. Thank you all for trying to help. I must have been having some type of conflict with WMP11 so i rolled back to WMP10 and followed MS website advice in rolling back so I was sure to reverse all the updates that were in place, and this fixed it.. Thanks again...
Problem solved already - thanks
I have resolved this issue. Thank you for all of your solutions. I appreciate your help.
