The built in microphone is really only good for distances of less than 1 maybe two metres. If your camera has a microphone input then you can add an external microphone more suitable. eg. shotgun mic.

I have a tape of someone speaking and while most of it is audible there is one segment that I cannot hear properly due to the person speaking saying something under their breath. How can I enhance this...

The first step would be to digitize the recording at the highest resolution so you can manipulate it indefinitely without wearing the tape out.

THAT would require a CD recorder or connections and software for importing analog audio into the digital domain. Others may be able to speak on that piece.

Need to record from turntables to cassette deck.

Bypass the reciever. Just mixer to tape deck. You will get a better recording anyways!

Lines across the sreen when i play back the tape

Someone here recommended on another post to put the lense cap on & videotape the blackness in a quiet room for 5-10 mins. I tried this as a last resort & it worked. When I played back the tape, no more skipping or gray lines. I had 4-5 SOLID gray lines with skipping video & audio in between on every tape I put in. I think the person who helped me solve this said that it was a result of the tape alignment going off.

Tape noise

Yes, all of the hv20's have this problem. My suggestion is to use an external shotgun microphone and attach this to the hotshoe. This minimizes the tape motor noise. Azden sells one on amazon.com that I bought for $60 that sounds much better.

Telex copyette 1-2-3 you can hear both sides at the same time

Clean the heads, oil the spindles.
Basic problem is the tape alignment is off a little. Could be caused by too much tape tension causing it to wander.
Hope Ya Fix It. So ya can spread the word!

Will not playback tapes

a sony cleaning cassette may clear the gunk from your friend ' s possibly ? bad tapes ( do not rewind it - or the gunk will be redeposited ) ; if still no video , get an estimate to have your heads and guides cleaned . . . professionally ;

Why does the VCR ejects my tape?

The VHS PlayPak adaptor uses 1 AA battery. When you place your VHS-C tape into the adaptor and close the cover, you will hear the motor running and the red piece on the adapter will move inside. Check the placement of the battery and make sure the clear shrink-wrap has been removed from the battery.
