Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

It sounds like the starter cup has failed / broken. See this link: (Page 3 item 14.)
http://weborder.husqvarna.com/order_static/doc/HIPL/HIPL2008/HIPL2008_5450143-15.pdf

However... the pawls on the starter pulley (item 28 above) may have broken.

There is a whole kit for repairing the starter recoil: PN 545180844
That can be found here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/HUSQVARNA-RECOIL-STARTER-KIT-124L-125L-128L-545180844-/150485511147

Your need to remove the starter recoil assy and check for damage. It will be obvious. Just remove the mounting screws and lift it off. It is not difficult. Use the first link page 3 to identify the parts you may need once you do the visual inspection with the recoil removed.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

I have a Husqvarna 125L weedeater, New Fuel, has spark but will not start. Pulling the starter rope makes me feel that either I have a compression problem or a clutch problem it is just to easy to pull. I...

Hi there. Firstly remove the end with the starter cord and make sure the fly wheel is opening when you pull the cord. If not lubricate it until it frees. If it is working then it could be just the carb gaskets need replacing or the worst case is that the piston is broke and may need sorting.

Flooding of the engine, over fueling. Put choke ing to off position. Check Spark. It may not be sparking therefore its not ignighting the fuel in the cylinder.

DO I NEED SPECIAL TOOL TO REFIT COIL SPRING WHICH CAME OUT WHEN FITTING STARTER PULL CORD

There are special tools made for this job, however not needed for most jobs (makes easier). Clean the spring and lube slightly with silicone spray or light oil. Catch the end of the spring that would be the outer end onto slot or pin and slowly spiral the coil into place holding down coils as you turn(dont try to coil the spring then drop it in, take your time as you wind and maybe ask a freind to lend a third hand if your fingers get tired, once you start you cant stop). The inner part of the coil has a bent hook that will catch on the inner portion of the pull rewind. Lood at how the rewind catches this hook by turning the rewind in the direction that it turns when you pull the rope. When you pull the rope it winds the spring. If you put the spring in backwards the rewind spring will not catch. Once you got the spring in place, turn the rewind in the direction that it turns when you pull the rope until it stops, then release one turn and insert rope thru guide and into spool to tie knot. Slowly let rewing pull in new rope. Good luck

Rope needs rewound, got tangled up , had to remove the 4 nuts, now need to get in back on wound tight

I assume that you are speaking of a pull start mechanism.
I can not imagine how to put a put pull starter back on "wound tight". Your pulling on the cord tightens a spring which pulls the cord back in. They go back together with the cord fully wound onto the spool.
Usually, I only take these apart to replace the cord. Wind the new cord onto the spool without handle. Reassemble, then pull out on the cord a little when attaching the handle to the cord. This is the only way to get tension onto the spring at the fully retracted position because the catch for the spring is on the machine and the spring itself is on the underside what you are assembling.
If you do not wish to shorten the cord or replace it, then remove the handle, assemble enough to catch the spring, wind one turn tighter then feed rope through hole and reattach handle. Easier said than done.
If your spring is broken, then you will be needing a new one.

Pull cord on weedeater wont recoil

sounds like the spring is broken itself.there should be a hook at one end and a loop at the other end.the hook usualy breaks off but the spring looks good.replace the spring with part number..4140 190 0600 ....that is the stihl part number.let me know if this helped you...if not give me a quick mail and i'll try to help some more......
