Hi I'm having a problem with my D-Link DSL-2740R router, Since yesterday the Red Internet Light seems to be permantly on. I have reset it several times and everytime I do in connects to the internet for around 30 minutes with a green light but then disconnects and the internet light goes back to red and then I have to reset it again and the cycle continues The weather here is very warm and I think it could be overheating should i move it away into a cooler place or is it another issue Thanks, Danny

SOURCE: Zoom X6 internet light constantly red

the internet light, is usually a blinking green, showing that it's seeing the internet signal. The only reason it's red, is cause there's no net signal..double check the phone line going into the back of your router, and change it if you need to.

SOURCE: Intermitent DSL/Internet Connnectivity 2701 Router

Hii,

* If you can connect after disconnecting power and reconnecting, it means there is formation of static charge on modem

* Check whether there is any cordless phone or any other satellite devices next to the modem. If so, move the modem 10 feet away.

* If your modem is placed on carpet, please place it on wooden desk

For guest:
Do you see the power is also interrupted while loosing connection? If so try plugging the modem into different socket. Dont waste money for simple problems.

If this doesnt work, please dont rate me down, if it works, please rate me as fixya!!! lol...

Have a nice day!!!

Hi der... well the issue your facing is simple to say ur power adaptor is faulty. Usually its due to some electrical shorts or maybe some heavy lightnings. You can always have a remedy for it.

1st : Buy a new adaptor.
2nd: call ur ISP to have it replaced if ur still under some contract term or if the modem is still under warranty.
3rd : you can buy ur own ADSL2+ modem from supporting outlets . Make sure ur isp supports this modem.

This are the solutions for ur problem pal.. So make a wise decision.. Any needs and help post it to FixYa..ANd the experts here will fix ya..!

SOURCE: westwall modem Internet is solid red light

If the internet light is red, it means that the modem cannot get an ip connection from the ISP.

If your ISP has a PPPOE connection, most likely, the PPPOE password is not correct.

To ensure your settings, access the modem through a web browser. In the address bar, type 192.168.1.1.

Default Username: admin
Default Password: password

If this doesn't work, try admin for the username and password. If still doesn't work, you will need to reset the modem. Just hold the reset button for 30 seconds. Then turn it off for 1 minute.

Try again to access the modem, under Configuration, click Edit beside My Connection. Type your ISP username and password then Save.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

SOURCE: Cannot connect to my Internet.

With the DSL light always flashing, it means that either the ADSL signal (synchronization) does not reach your modem, or your modem cannot 'read' the signal.

You need to determine if the problem is from one of the following places :

  • outside of your house (your land line or ISP equipment) or from the modem;
  • your telephone-cable inside your house or
  • one of your equipment;

Try the following manipulations to determine from where the default comes :

  1. Determine if the problem is in your house or on the land line
    • Unplug each and every equipment which is connected to your telephonic installation (Fax, phones, answering machines etc);
    • Using the shortest telephone cable (RJ11) you possess, plug only your modem to the main telephone jack of your house.
    • If the DSL LED still flashes continuously, the problem is somewhere between your ISP's equipment and your house. You should call them and expose the situation. At this stage, you can't do much else.

  2. Determine if the problem is in your house installation
    If the DSL LED lights up when it is plugged to the main telephone jack, then it is either one of your equipment which is at fault, or the house installation. To pinpoint the problem, do the following :
    • With all the other equipment still unplugged, try the modem on all the other telephone jacks you have around the house.
    • If the DSL flashes continuously on one of the jacks, you will have found the source of your miseries. Depending on your ISP's terms and conditions, you will either have to call them of call for the services of a third-party technician to solve the problem.
    • If the DSL lights up correctly on all the telephone jacks, then your house telephone installation is good. Proceed to the next series of tests.

  3. Determine which equipment is at fault
    • Plus your modem to one telephone jack and wait for the DSL line to light solid.
    • Use a splitter (ADSL filter) to plug the equipments you possess (telephone, fax etc) one by one. Verify each time if the DSL LED is still lit or flashes continuously.
    • If one of the equipment causes the DSL LED to flash, it is that equipment which causes your problem.
    • If every equipment causes the DSL LED to flash, the it is the splitter (ADSL filter) which is causing the problem. You can confirm this hypothesis by testing each and every ADSL filter you have in your possession.
    • Replace any faulty equipment and you should have eliminated the problem.
If nothing of this solves your problem, you won't have any choice but call you ISP. Don't hesitate to tell them all tests you will have done.

May I also make some recommendations :
  1. Use a power surge protector (not a UPS though) to plug your modem to the electric outlet BUT plug it directly to the telephone jack;
  2. Make sure your modem is plugged in as far as possible from UPS, television, etc.;
  3. If possible, don't plug the modem in the same electric outlet as other equipments;
  4. Don't use any telephone extension cable to plug your modem to the telephone jack.

Hope this helps you. Let me know what happens next.

Red flashing light on D-Lonk wireless router dsl-2750b

Means you have no internet connection. Try a new LAN cable between you router and internet modem. Connect directly to you internet modem make certain it is working. Reboot both devices.

The final solution is a factory reset of your router. You can do a factory reset by logging into the router using you browser. Go to the settings and perform a factory reset

If you forgot the router password, you ill have to do a factory reset by locating a small hold on the back of the router and insert the tip of of paper clip for about 10 seconds while the power is on. The router will be reset to out of box status and then you can set-up form scratch.

I have a D-link DSL-2750U router worked fine till yesterday, but now its power led keeps on giving a red light it should give green a second or two later but it keeps givings

Reset router. There are two resets. A simple push reboots and holding it in clears all custom settings. Try the first.

This is a quick fix and usually does it. Test with network cable and work your way backwards to modem if you still have problems.

No internet

If the power light is red this is a system error.

Try to reset the router by holding and pressing the reset button for 10 seconds. Then power cycle the router.

If the power light is still red. It is possible that the router is already defective.

The red led light on the internet connection on my d-link router is on. i cannot connect to the internet now. i have a green light above the dsl connection and their is one other green light on. i have...

1st: Have you paid your bill?
2nd: Have you power cycled?
Full Power Cycle is as follows:

Turn off all components plugged into the router(Computers, Printers, etc.) Unplug the power from the router. Unplug the data cable(DSL, Coax) going TO the router. Wait aprox. 1 minute. Plug data cable and power cable back into router. Wait about 1 minute. Turn computers back on. Problem Solved?

If not and you're using DSL make sure all DSL filters are in place and that none have come undone. Make sure the phone line is still plugged in. Problem Solved?

If not contact your ISP and ask if they are doing any maintenance in your area that may by effecting your service. Ask them to perform a line test on you. If all else fails ask them to have a technician come out and help solve the issue.

Hi , my d- link wireless router just stopped working yesterday. I can't seem to get it to connect to the internet and none of the laptops are getting wireless internet. There are 2 lights that are blinking...

Verify the connections are correct, The WAN port should be connected to the Cable/DSL modem. Then do a hard reset (hold in the reset button for 30 secs). If this doesn't work, try another router to isolate the problem.

Red internet light on DSL router Westell 6100

How long have you had your router and how well is it maintained and well vented? Even the most expensive routers need these two things consistently. Failure in doing this may result in a shorter life span than normal. My guess without actually being there is that it's time to try a new one. If you get the same problem with the new router, take it back immediately and call your ISP for service. It could be possible that there is some phone work being done in the area, and you just happen to be a victim!
