Generac Power Systems Generac 5928 Nexus Basic Wireless Remote In-Home Monitor Logo
Posted on Apr 23, 2011

No lights are lit on my Nexus Remote monitor for my Generac standby generator. The generator is working - just went through the testing cycle. Batteries are less than 6 months old. Maybe I need to reestablish the remote connection? If so, how?

Batteries only last about 3 months on these units. make sure you are within 20 ft of the generator and put in new batteries. The green light will blink is a minute or so.

How do I restore radio signal

You need to power down the tranmitter by unplugging it, wait a minite and plug it back in. The transmitter is the black thing on the back of the generator. You have to remove the black cover around the controller to access it.

How to replace battery in a generac standby 8kw generator

Switch generator to off. Remove 7.5A fuse. Disconnect Negative (-) battery terminal first and then Positive terminal (+). slide battery out the front (may be a tight fit) and install the new battery reversing removal steps. Connect (+) first and (-) last. Reinstall 7.5A fuse and switch to manual to start and test run.

Installed a generac 10k guardian standby generator 2 months ago and all was well, self test each week went fine until this week. Seems to have lost power, screen blank and can't reset? How can I get this...

If you installed this 2 months ago, then you are still under warranty. You need to contact Generac directly before you try to fix yourself and void warranty. Not trying to offend, just being practical.

Generac 43903 standby Generator overspeed indicator on starting

I have a generator that did the same thing. It would start and then stop within a few seconds. The more expensive generators have an oil level safety switch to prevent the engine from burning up. There is usually a wire connecting to the switch on the outside of the engine near the oil fill hole. Remove this wire and try to start the generator. If it runs without a problem then it is the switch. You need to remove the switch and take it apart carefully and clean it. There is a small float inside the assembly. When the oil runs low the float allows the switch to short to ground which kills the spark to the spark plug. Hope that helps.
