The most common thing that causes these problems is that an Incorrect format was done on the disk. Here are two different ways that you can fix these errors. I will give you the step by step way to fix them on each one.
First Way To Fix Your Issue:

  1. Stick the SD Card back into the Card Reader on your Laptop or Desktop Device.
  2. Open My Computer.
  3. Right Click on the SD Card.
  4. Select Format.
  5. Format window pops up.
  6. Under the Drop Down Menu of File System Select NTFS.
  7. Then Click Format Wait till it finishes.
  8. Then you should be done and the problem fixed
Second Way To Fix Your Issue:
  1. Stick the SD Card Back into your Phone or Camera.
  2. Select the System Settings on the device.
  3. Select format SD Card on your device.
  4. This should fix the issue.
If you are still having problems with this card then the SD Card is probably bad and needs to be replaced.

Put in a PNY 32 micro SD card to expand memory, but doesn't seem to show available space.

sd card need to be formatted to FAT32 on a pc windows 7 and 8 don't do this any more so you will need to download a formatting tool, then format it to FAT32 and then pop it in the unit you wnat to use it with.

How does ram vs internal storage work on tablet?

There are 2 storage in just about every smartphone or tablet. There is an internal storage, usually about 1gb. or 2gb. And there an internal SD storage, which is not same as the external micro sd card. RAM stands for Read Access Memory, it will not work as storage. Now, when you download an app it is usually save in the internal storage. If you move an app without an external micro sd card inserted, you are moving them to the internal SD storage. If possible got to setting>storage and check how is the storage divided, if you insert the external micro sd card it should display 3 separate bars. Also, another way to move apps and other things around is by using ES File Explorer. Check that out first and I hope you do resolve the problem, best of luck.

My Sandisk 'Wake up your phone' adapter & the micro one won't let me add music or anything else. It says that the disk is write-protected. Help?!

Micro SD write protect means there is damage to the firmware. Micro SD write protect, the data can be saved. Follow these steps:

Step One
To save data, use EASEUS Data Recovery software (free version - 1GB of data recovery). how:
1. Download and install EASEUS Data Recovery
2. Choose Complete Recovery - Next
3. Choose the drive micro SD - Next
4. Save the data to the hard disk (max. 1GB)
5. Because of your micro SD 2GB, repeat the process of recovery (repeat step 2, 3, 4)
After all data is secure, do the process repair micro SD.

Based on experience, the following methods can be used to repair the damage: RAW file system, used space 0 bytes, free space 0 bytes, micro SD can not be in the format, micro SD corrupt. To write protect a micro SD cases, 40% probability of success. But, you can try it. Good luck.

Step Two
The first alternative - use the software HP Drive Key Boot Utility
Using the HP Drive Key Boot Utility, the first way
1. Download and install the software HP Drive Key Boot Utility
2. Then, double click the file cp006049.exe
3. If you are using Win XP, double click the file cp006049.exe - select Install.
4. If you are using Win Vista or Seven, double click the file cp006049.exe - select extract.
5. Then, open the program "HP Drive Key Boot Utility or hpdkbu.exe" - Next - select drive - Next - Create new or replace exiting configuration - Next - Hard drive - Next - Create new file system - Next - wait until the process is completed - Next - Create firmware flash package - Next - Finish.
6. Remove the micro SD from the USB port, then insert it again.
7. Quick format micro SD (FAT file system)
8. Restore all data, to the micro SD.

Using the HP Drive Key Boot Utility, a second way
1. Open the program "HP Drive Key Boot Utility or hpdkbu.exe" - Next - select drive - Next - select Backup / Restore - click Restore - From filename, click Browse - Look In. Find the file initrd.img
2. If you are using Win XP, the location of the file in C: \ Program Files \ Compaq \ hpdkbu \ flash \ initrd.img - Next
3. If you are using Win Vista or Seven, the location of the file in the folder where you extract the files cp006049.exe. After the file is found, press Next
4. This process, will take a very long time, so you wait. This way you do for a capacity of 2GB. This involves when, the first way did not work. If the process runs smoothly, the chances of success, but if the process is running very slow, the possibility of failure and immediately stop the process. If you are unsure, or afraid to make mistakes, you should not do it this way.
5. After the process is complete, remove the micro SD card from the USB port, then insert it again.
6. Quick format micro SD (FAT file system)
7. Restore all data, to the micro SD.

The second alternative - use software HDD Low Level Format Tool
1. Download and install HDD Low Level Format Tool
2. Select micro SD - Continue
3. Click S.M.A.R.T - click Get Smart Attributes
4. Click LOW LEVEL FORMAT - click Format this device
5. Wait until the process is complete - press OK
6. Remove the micro SD from the USB port, then insert it again.
7. Quick format micro SD (FAT file system)
8. Restore all data, to the micro SD.
