This may be resolved by putting a new layer of thermal compound onto the Processor.

You'll need to remove the CPU fan and put a tiny amount (size of a grain of rice) of thermal compound on the chip. When the fan is placed back on it'll spread out.

Once this is done, you may find an improvement.

If not, i'd reccomend buying a better CPU fan.

I recently purchased Two PNY 1Gb ram to upgrade from original 512mb. When I put both 1Gb ram in the slots, the computer will not boot up. When I take one out and put the original 512 back in with the other...

I don't know your specific model, but some of the Emachines had some memory directly on the motherboard. With the 1Gb and 512Mb sticks installed, boot the machine and report how much memory the system sees. Perhaps the onboard memory is causing you to exceed the 2Gb limit.

Please post the memory size you get here with the above sticks.

Thanks,
Dan

Can't install 2gb memory in w6409 only reads 1 stick

Max memory allowed in this unit is 2048MB. (2GB.)

Adding the maximum amount of memory will improve performance and help extend the useful life of your system as you run increasingly demanding software applications in the future.

Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

I have an Emachine W6409 Desktop, it was turned off(proper shut down) after an hour or so, pressed the on button, nothing happened, power supply was replaced, attempted to turn on and again nothing...

It sounds like you dont have the motherboard/case wiring input properly, without a specific diagram of your computer, i cant really tell you what to plug in, but your computer could have come with the correct wiring guide.

Can not burn cd or dvd on model w6409

Try using a different burning program, one like

If it's the same then the optical unit is defective and you must replace it.
