My cordless Uniden EZI 996 needed a new battery, which I replaced yesterday as there was static on the receivers phone when I made a call. The static has gone away and audio is fine. However, now my Caller ID will not work. What can I do? I have 2 other identical phones in the house, and the caller ID works fine on those. Help! Yvonne Caplan

press and hold CID button for 5 seconds to access the phone's menu.
Then change ringer type and volume.
For the phone breaking up, try different channels of that phone to receive better frequency. The phone with the weird battery may have faulty or bad battery or charger contacts that need to be cleaned with rubbing alcohol and need to be resoldered.
I have two older (2002) model cordless Uniden phones that require the handsets to return to their original factory bases. If they have rested on another Uniden base, even of the same model, there is no dialup tone. Replace to the original base and you should be back in service.
