Have an HP C6180 that would not turn on, no power. Unplugged and replugged the unit in the back - no fix. Unplugged the unit at the wall socket, reconnected and I thought I heard a faint click in the power supply. Hit the on button and the C6180 powered up - no issues. Without knowing for sure, possibly the power supply has some type of surge arrest safety switch.
Same problem, no power after black innk ran out. I disconnected all connection (power, fax, usb to computer and even disconnected the power cord from the power box (the box in the power cord between the computer and outlet). I plugged it all back in with no luck. I kept plugging it in and hitting the power button. I then opend the lid, plugged it in and the power button and the power was restored. Bottom line, keep playing with it doing different things with the power supply and I think it will come back to life. Good luck.

Theres nothing in the drivers that would cause this unless the software was doing an update to the printers internal software
you could try a hard reset
1. Remove all cables, including: 2. Unplug the printer power. 3. Hold down # and 6 on the keyboard. 4. Plug the power cord back in. .
I think this may be an ink problem try resetting the printer
Follow steps below to reset Hewlett-Packard (HP) All-in-one Printers (products with keypads only). Resetting your printer will reset your printer to its original state.
For products with keypads on the control panel:
1. Without turning the unit off, unplug the power cord from the back of the product. 2. Press and hold “# and 6′ keys. 3. While holding those keys plug the power cord back in. 4. Wait until the screen goes blank before you release those keys. 5. Follow on printer screen instructions.
It can be the backlight inverter board is going out or the power supply that supplys the power to the inverter board is going out if what you mean by 'BLANK' no light on the screen. Look for bad capacitors in the power supply first it is easier to get to than the inverter board. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague
All I had to do was clean the print head. Try these steps: Press setup, scroll down to tools. Select clean printer head. The printer will run a clean cycle and then print out a diagnostic test page.
I think Your computer C.P.U. power supply unit is not working properly. because these type of problem occur when Power Supply Unit is not working properly.........
So Don't afraid at all just change your c.p.u. power supply unit with new one (it is not costly at all).
