Hello

Its better to just remove them clean them up and replace it in the printer, because usually some printers require a reset code to re-set the waste ink counter. If the counter is not re-set there will come a time when then printer will refuse to print.

Here is how to clean your waste ink absorber;

Open the printer and locate the waste ink absorber near the ink cartridge.

Remove the absorber pad and hold it in cold water while squeezing the ink out. It would be wise to wear gloves while doing this, because the ink in the pad will leave stains.

Use paper towels to dry the waste ink absorber pad. Let it dry completely before installing it back in the printer.

Reinstall the ink pad into the printer and run a test page to make sure it works.

Canon IP90 ink pad is full

This may clear the ink absorber problem. There is ink absorbers located at both ends of the printer where the ink head move.
To dry the ink absorber, power up the printer and open the cover so the ink cartridges and print head will move to the middle of the printer.
Then take several sheets of absorbent tissue, fold it into a pad and place it inside the printer over the ink absorber on the far left hand side of the printer to soak up the excess ink. You may need to change the absorbent tissue a few times. Then repeat the same procedure on the right hand ink absorber.
Close the lid and the printer should now function normally.

it is usually a foam pad that has tubes that **** the ink out and the collector may have an issue you may want to replace your printer if at all possible but canon printers are hard to find parts for sometimes

I get a warning that my "waste ink absorber almost full". How do I empty it?

Can you tell me what unit is your canon printer?

Because there are two ways to clear the waste ink absorber full in your printer.

First, is by actual cleaning of the ink absorber pads that is seated under the ink cartridges in its home base position. Remove the waste ink from the foam / pads by a running water.

Second, is by a reset procedure..but I cannot give you the exact reset procedure because you did not mention the model of your canon printer.

Please reply back so I can help you further.

Please rate this answer if were done with your solutions.
Thanks.

How do you empty the ink absorber?

The ink absorber is usually a pad that lays on the bottom of the printer. The printer will more then likely need to be taken into a repair center for them to change out the pad. You more then likely will have to call canon for the nearest repair center. Its not to hard to change out the pad if you can get ahold of a new one and the instructions to dismantle the printer.

Message says that the ink overflow is full. How do I replace or correct the problem on my Cannon iP 1500?

1) Underneath the print head are 2 foam pads. Turn your printer on with the cover open and then unplug it with the print head away from the pads.

2) The 2 pads have 2 silicone tubes attached to them that run to the rear right side of the printer.
Taking the sides off you can unsnap plastic clips to remove the top half of the printer cover.

3) Follow the silicone tubes. They run into a white plastic pump that sucks the ink that falls onto the pickup screens and dumps it onto numerous felt absorber strips under the pump mechanism.

4) To clean or change the absorber felts you must first remove the Pump mechanism which is held on by 2 screws so that you have access to the felt absorber pieces

5) Run clean water over each piece of felt until the water runs clear and then place them on an absorbant surface (paper towels maybe) to dry.

6) Put it all back together the same way you took it apart.

This can be extremely messy, be careful not to get the ink on anything that matters.
