Dark vertical streaks on the screen (they look like a liquid flowed down the screen). They are worse on a darker screen. In fact they do not show at all on a white screen. Sometimes the screen also shows a light band on the left side. Is this problem repairable, or is the TV slowly on it's way out?

HI:
There could be one or two problems with this symptom. One is the Panel could be failing and the other is you may have a bad T_CON board. This board does the work of putting the picture on the screen and lighting up the different color pixels in the screen and also does the adressing of these pixels. I would replace the T-Con board first for the line problems, AS to the liquid this may be due to a faluty Panel screen where the fluid is escaping from in between the LCD screens, in which case I would contact Dynex to see if they will replace the Screen for you. The only option is to replace the screen at this point.

I have a LG 42LB5D 42" 1080 LCD television that

hi, usually you can correct this issue with only a few system checks, dark streaks can be caused by damaged pixels on the screen, in which case you need to replace the TV.
  • Inspect where the dark streaks are on the television. If the streaks occur at the same place on the top and bottom of the screen, they are due to the formatting of a movie or television show you are watching. This is normal. Also, if the streaks appear on the left and right of the screen, they are due to the show being filmed in full-screen instead of wide-screen. This also is normal.

  • Change the input setting so you are viewing the contents of a different device. If the dark streaks are gone, you know they are due to the device connected to it. However, if the dark streaks remains no matter what input the TV is connected to, the problem lies with the television.

  • Inspect the cable connection. Oftentimes when connecting a computer to an LCD TV, you can have strange dark streaks across the screen. Use a DVI-to-HDMI cable connection when plugging in your computer, then press the "Menu" button on your TV remote, select "Picture" and chose "Square Pixel." See whether the image adjusts and the dark streak goes away.
  • Contact the manufacturer of your LCD television if the dark streak remains. This streak can be caused by a defect in the television; if the TV is still under warranty, you can have it replaced.

Dark shadow-like vertical streaks thru LCD screen (Sharp)

Hi, I have a Sony Grand Wega LCD Projection TV that has a blotted gray streak across the front of the screen. I only use a damp cloth to clean the window and that doesn't seem to help. It really shows up on light pictures and is unnoticed when the picture is a little darker. What can I do to fix this problem???

Dark streaks on the inside of the screen

If it's an LCD TV, then what your seeing is Liquid Crystals inside. Chances are that someone has bumped the LCD or damaged it, and now the screen is broken. The "Dark Lines" are from misfiring pixels which is a sign that the LCD is damaged and will either stay the same, or get much much worse. I'd lean towards much much worse.

Just keep it until it really gets bad then just replace it. You can have it fixed, but the repair would cost more then just buying a brand new one.
