GA-8I848P(-L) Motherboard won't boot. Was an intermittant problem as it would occasionally not boot but would be ok after a reseat of memory or a period of being off. Now it no longer boots. Have changed the cpu, uninstalled all cards and drives, reset the bios ... nothing

    I have same mainboard and won't boot on startup even bios screen is not shown.I checked these parts ;
1)On the mainboard RAM led is ON.(But , when i checked the GA-8I848P-L mainboard diagram , it shows us ; there is a POWER LED which is near the USB Power sockets, but i can't see any LED is ON in there !? )
2)I removed all the RAMs and work like this , also remove RAMs by one by and work like this but mainboard did not beep.(So that , i think RAMs are working.. )
3)I removed AGP VGA card , didnot beep.VGA CARD FAN is working.I have Leadtek 6800..I also try to clean VGA SLOT with a pressure airgun.Nothing changed.
4)I removed CMOS battery for 3-4minutes.Also try CMOS CLEAR Jumper.(Nothing change.)
    5)CPU fan is working normally.
6)PSU is working.(If it isnot working , there isn't any electric on the mainboard and other parts and also PSU fan is working ..)
7)I checked my monitor (It is working normally)
8)There isn't any error beeps or normal booting beep at the startup, there is no display on screen.
Any suggestions for not booting BIOS ?

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps

Hi, what you have not tested for isolation is your power supply, re-seating of processor for 20 minutes, cmos clearing or battery removal and mother board swapping. If all your isolation seems futile the worst is the mother board.

Hi, I would like to update my GA-8I848P-G motherboard's BIOS. But I don't know how I can do it. Could you send to a soft to flash the new BIOS?! Kind regards, Grafi

You can get the BIOS flash utility at the Gigabyte website. As far as the actual flashing is concerned, it is a fairly simple and straight forward process. The specifics will depend on the utility that you download. You will need TWO things. The flash utility and the firmware you wish to install. Just a bit of warning, improper flashing of the mobo's BIOS can lead to catastrophic failure of the motherboard, so take care and follow the instructions to the letter.

Scanning BIOS Image in Hard Drive

Your BIOS to your GA-8I848P-G Motherboard would be flashable to the BIOS chip on the Board it's self. Make sure you read Gigabytes BIOS flash instructions. If the board is up and running Windows, then Gigabyte has there LIVE BIOS update you can run from there website!

Good luck..

Motherboard dead

Check first your power supply if it is ok.If ok

Check your memory card. Reseat, if it does not boot. Clean its edge connector. Power up it again. If it does not boot again. Clean other card, pci and video card.

If it does not boot up. You can try to power up your cpu with only the processor, memory, video card and cdrom with a bootable cdrom.
