Computer beeping and flashing red light

This means that the rams on the main board is gone,
1.) unplug the system and open the case.
2.) locate the memory Module (rams) its a small long circuit board clipped into a slot and held in place by pins on eighter side
3.) purchase the exact sme module from a local store
4.) put in new module.

ps you can try cleaning it with tissue paper when you remove it as well before buying a new one.

5 bleeps on a conpaq

it say that you have a critical failure it can be power supply ; CPU ; memory or motherboard
to test your power supply:

1 unplug it from motherboard
2 on the ATX conetcor (P1 with 20 or 24 pin) use a wire to link green with a black wire
3 with a voltmeter verify that yellow have 12V ; red and purple 5V and orange 3.3V (nearly)

for the CPU and memory modules you can change it and test(only 1 memory module is enouth) or test it on an other mother board (must be compatible)

and for the mother board test on an othr hardware that work (if previous test was passed it's the mother board)

HP/Compaq P4 2.8 GHz Desktop PC alarm is going off. my computer won't start up and there is a 'light bulb' icon that is flashing red

This is a Beep code for Memory Failure or System board failure. Mostly this should be due to RAM ( System Memory ) failure. Try reseating the Memory.
There will be two Memory modules in the system, try booting with only memory module and if it works. the swapping of memory does not help, the system board must be faulty.
