I have had an Pentax Optio S10 auto focus camera for about 3 years and it hasn't missed a beat. But now it will not take photos in flash mode. I have tried the usual settings as per the manual, and noticed a previous posting of the same issue. The response was to recharge the battery, which currently I am doing. The indicator on the camera's LCD however shows the battery to be almost fully charged though. Would this be the same issue? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Graham

Hold the OK key for 5 seconds while powering on the camera. this unlocks the menu and key modes.

I had the same problem with the exact same camera (Pentax Optio S5Z) that happened the same way. I searched everywhere on the web and finally found this post that didn't have a solid solution. So I started experimenting with different button combinations and finally figured it out.

Hold the OK button while turning on the camera. The screen should indicate that it is in audio record mode. Now press the Menu button and use the navigation keys to find and execute the system reset option.

After turning it off and back on it should function normally.

I have a pentax optio s10,lost ma ual but can,t figure out how to transfer pics from camera memory to sd card in camera, HELP!!!
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.

When i take pictures on my pentax optio s10 the pictures are coming out black but the lcd screen is working, is there anything i can do to fix this?
A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

My Pentax Optio W10 camera takes some out of focus photos. What do I do to solve this problem?
Your camera has the option for manual focus. This option allows you to focus the camera to capture what you want, rather than the auto-focus feature.

This will be indicated by a MF in the top center of your camera screen. You should be able to change this by finding record mode and changing your AF settings. Change your MF to the [ ] option and you should be on auto-focus settings.

remove the batteries first'
pull the memory stick put it back in
put good (proper milliAmpere hours) new batteries in the camera
If that does not work \turn off the camera
remove the memory stick
Repeat power up

Pentax Optio S10 cannot take photos in flash mode
HI there check the battery first. Red light blinking in working mode when the battery not having enough power for flashing. So i suggest you charged the battery fully or if its old then replaced it. Thnaks.

My pentax optio m20 will not flash.have i turned it off
At the back of your camera, there is a circular button and a flash symbol on it. Pust that button it will circulates through "Auto, Flash-off, Flash-on, Red-eye reduction" modes. As you see those modes displayed on the LCD screen of your camera, chose one of them as you wish
(in this case chose the one except "flash-off" mode ofcourse) :)
