I have a jet3 ultra that has never been used. In October we bought new batteries. It worked;however, we have not used it or charges it until now. The omnimeter reads 0 and only the one red light shines. Could it be a charger problem or have the batteries stopped working. If it's the batteries, then is there anyway to recharge. We paid $170 for them.

Amy why did you not keep the batteries charged? even new batteries have to be charged before use. Now plug in the charger and look at the meter with the charger plugged in the meter will show some reading around 4-5 amps. Let the charger work overnight when you get up in the morning fully charged the meter will read zero. Turn on the chair and all the battery lights should be lit. If after charging over night you are still getting one red light then you blew 170.00 and no amount of charging will bring them back. Sorry I wish I had better news. If you replace the batteries charge fully before use and then use the chair some each day and charge nightly for 20 days this will break in the batteries and get them operating at 100%. If you then only use the chair sometimes always put it up fully charged and charge at least once a week If you use the chair for that day charge overnight and it will be ready to use again when you need it. If you are going to leave the chair unattended for 6 months then fully charge the batteries and disconect them from the chair until you need it again New batteries every 6 months can get expensive Hope this helps you

Unit charges shows full and by mid day in a nursing home battery lights show only 2 red lights. do i need to replace batteries. the chair is a jet3 it was bought in 2003 and not used for about 2...

You definitely need new batteries. There are 2 size U-1 batteries in the chair that will last between 1.5 and 2 years. Get the deep cycle sealed gel lead acid batteries, preferably AGM. Hope this helps.

How do you know if the battery is charging.

To find out if your battery charger is working on your jet3 .
First thing you do is make sure its plugged in
Second locate your meter next to the plug on your chair
Third when plugging in the cord make sure your meter moves to the center of the meter.

If this works congrats your charger is working.

I just bought a jet3 ultra and it looks new, but battery is dead. How long should I let it charge up? I have the power cord. Do you have it sit in it to make it go? How do I get it to go?

If the battery is dead I would have the batteries load tested. Let it charge 12-14 hours. To operate the chair push the power button and push the joystick in the direction that you want to go.

Jet3 ultra power chair wont charge

If you have access to a voltmeter, put it on your battery then plug in the charger; if the voltage rises that will tell you that your charger is working.
