If the bearing is bad it will likely do one of three things, it can sound like a jet is taking off when your washer is spinning, the rear bearing seal can start leaking, or if it is really bad there will be slop between the basket and tub. Open the door and spin the basket, does it sound like the bearing has gravel in it? Lift on the basket if it has slop between the basket and tub this will for sure cause the banging you are talking about. To verify the leak you will have to pull the rear cover off of the machine and look for grease or water trails running down the rear of the tub. Often times the grease or water will get on the pulley or belt and fling it around the rear of the washer. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: load noise in final spin cycle

turn the tub on the inside if it feels ruff as it turns and makes a noise then most likely you have a bad rear bearing, if it is smooth in turning and no noise then turn to drain or spin possibly something stuck in drain pump. the drain pump will start up first if you hear the noise then the drain pump is accessed from the front lower cover, if its the rear bearing probably not worth fixing about 400.00 in parts and alot of work.

SOURCE: Front Loading Washer - Load Banging During Spin Cycle

hello, your problem is that your shocks are bad and need to be replaced. you can access them by removing the front lower panel. make sure you unplug the washer first. you will see 2 of them on either side of the tub. i belive you can twist the upper portion and then remove the bottom screew and remove the shock. of course before you start you should have the new shocks. and make sure their is no water in the tub.

SOURCE: Loud banging noise during final high speed spin

I have the HE3T which is 6 yo. Last week it started making a loud banging noise in the spin cycle. I had a repairman come out. He said it is the drum bearings. He said that it is a problem with these machines and to call Sears. He said that the drum and bearing is one assembly and that Sears should cover it.

I called today and Sears todl me that I have to pay for a Sears technician to come out a determine if it is indeed the problem. If so, it will be covered under the lifetime warranty on the drum. I have to pay for the service call $75.00 and if it is the problem, I will be reimbursed. Cross my fingers!

My 6 year old Frigidaire front load washer makes a lound banging noise during final spin. I have read a bunch of stuff on the net about it being really expensive to fix. I never noticed that the drum...

A typical failure with your machine is that the rear tub seal may seep water into the bearings. Once moisture enters the bearings, they will quickly fail and cause the type of symptoms you mention. I would suggest purchasing a new machine as the repair cost can't be justified. Whirlpool / Maytag machines are very good and, at least relating to top loading, they are all made in USA. If you want a front loading machine made in USA, I would highly recommend the WFW94HEX model- Consumer Reports #1 rated.

Good luck.

Any out of balance loading results in a violent wobble that actually causes the machine to walk! In addition, nylon "dust" has been observed in the area under the tub suspension. Has wear actually lowered...

the nylon "dust" is actually corn starch put there in the factory. make sure the unit is level but more importantly solid on the floor. if you can rock the unit even so much as to slide a piece of paper under a foot, at speed this will cause it to shake and/or walk. also too small of a load will cause an out of balance situation. a large load is actually better. when loading clothes place the heaviest articles at the bottom and lighter as you get to the top.

it could be 2 or 3 things wrong here 1 could be something as simple as an uneven load that would make the machine jump about and bang,it could also be the drum spider this is internal to the tub it holds the drum onto the drum shaft this could be broken or it could be one of the counter balance blocks as become lose all three would only really show when in high spin gd luck

some times the springs that hold the tub in place will come off try to look under the bottom there are metal brackets around the drum and should be large short springs holding it three or four if loose just reattach look at one still conected to use as example to put it back together

Maytag washer bangs during spin cycle

chances are you had a blockage in the pump and it tried to spin with the water still in the drum. check the bottom hose and filter for blockages so it does not occur again.
