If the bearing is bad it will likely do one of three things, it can sound like a jet is taking off when your washer is spinning, the rear bearing seal can start leaking, or if it is really bad there will be slop between the basket and tub. Open the door and spin the basket, does it sound like the bearing has gravel in it? Lift on the basket if it has slop between the basket and tub this will for sure cause the banging you are talking about. To verify the leak you will have to pull the rear cover off of the machine and look for grease or water trails running down the rear of the tub. Often times the grease or water will get on the pulley or belt and fling it around the rear of the washer. Hope this helps.

The Shipping bolts need to be removed from the back of the unit?? they go thru a plastic sleeve once the bolts are out you can twist the plastic peice to remove them completely I think there are 3 of them

turn the tub on the inside if it feels ruff as it turns and makes a noise then most likely you have a bad rear bearing, if it is smooth in turning and no noise then turn to drain or spin possibly something stuck in drain pump. the drain pump will start up first if you hear the noise then the drain pump is accessed from the front lower cover, if its the rear bearing probably not worth fixing about 400.00 in parts and alot of work.

hello, your problem is that your shocks are bad and need to be replaced. you can access them by removing the front lower panel. make sure you unplug the washer first. you will see 2 of them on either side of the tub. i belive you can twist the upper portion and then remove the bottom screew and remove the shock. of course before you start you should have the new shocks. and make sure their is no water in the tub.

I have the HE3T which is 6 yo. Last week it started making a loud banging noise in the spin cycle. I had a repairman come out. He said it is the drum bearings. He said that it is a problem with these machines and to call Sears. He said that the drum and bearing is one assembly and that Sears should cover it.
I called today and Sears todl me that I have to pay for a Sears technician to come out a determine if it is indeed the problem. If so, it will be covered under the lifetime warranty on the drum. I have to pay for the service call $75.00 and if it is the problem, I will be reimbursed. Cross my fingers!
