I have a Netgear router Model # WGR614 v7. The new Ipad cannot connect unless I tell it to forget that netwok, then reset network settings. I then unplug the router, leave it a minute or two & then replug it back in. The ipad will then connect, but often looses the network after a short time. I can NEVER connect the ipad to the network without doing this first. Router works OK with all other network devices including the TV. What is WRONG?? How do I fix this very frustrating problem?

What version of iOS is the iPad running? Try updating the iPad to the latest version of iOS (4.3.1) and see if the wireless situation is better.
To update the iOS, just plug the iPad into you computer and look in iTunes to see if an update is available for the iPad.

Hi,
by default wireless is turned off until you administer and set security. after a good reset it is off.
you must hard wire to the router and then browse it using its IP.
once you are connected then open a command prompt and type "ipconfig" hit enter it will display your IP the a subnet mask then the gateway. The gateway Ip is the routers number so enter that number in a browser and the follow below for setup screens. because you reset this the ID will be "admin and the password will be "password"

Basically the PS3 wireless settings needs to be configures with the Netgear wireless router settings.
To test if the modem is connects to the Internet, connect a computer into the modem, if it works then the modem is configured correctly. If it doesn't work, then contact your ISP and get them to test your modem connection.

You can do it without the CD. You can do it manually.

First make sure that your computer is able to go online when connected directly to the modem.

Help

That means it hasnt picked up an IP from the modem.

Unplug the power to the modem and the router. Leave them off for a full minute. Pluge the modem in first , give it another full minute then power up the router. If you still have problems try another cable.

If you still have issues, Power off the modem and the PC and repeat the above process.Verify the PC is getting connection. If you cant connect then call the cable/DSL company.

If you can connect download the latest firmware from Netgear and flash the router.

ROUTER PASSWORD

The universal pword is, believe it or not, 1234
Here is the website with exact instructions from NetGear itself - these instructions are for the v4 version of your router - make sure this is the correct version of the WGR614, or else this exact page will not work for you - if you have v7 instead, go to the v7 page, etc.
