Thanks for all the follow-up. I saved the suggestion from Kayumangi Beloria; but am going to try Cleaning Sheets first. I did not know these were available. Thanks again,

    1. Remove ink cartridges.
    2. Clean ink cartridge contacts with a clean, dry cloth.
    3. With a damp cloth clean the nozzles.
    4. Pull cartridge carrier to one side of printer while printer is off. Clean the encoder strip, careful very sensitive. Pinch with a clean damp cloth and wipe from the carrier to the side of the printer. Do both sides.
    5. Do a nozzle clean page. Go to >start>programs>dell printers>dell aio a940>dell printer solution center>maintenance>clean to fix horizontal streaks>print: If prints a blank page, and testing with another cartridge or a good cartridge have the same issue, your print head may already be damaged.

Where do i put envelopes in a lexmark X6570

Loading envelopesYou can load up to 10 envelopes at a time.
Warning: Do not use envelopes that have metal clasps, string ties, or metal folding bars.

1 Load envelopes in the center of the paper support with the stamp location in the upper left corner.
2 Make sure:
• The print side of the envelopes faces you.
• The envelopes are designed for use with inkjet printers.
• The paper guides rest against the edges of the envelopes.

Notes:
• Do not load envelopes with holes, perforations, cutouts, or deep embossing.
• Do not use envelopes that have exposed flap adhesive.
• Envelopes require more drying time. Remove each envelope as it exits, and allow it to dry to avoid ink smudging.

When I send envelopes to the printer, the printer is leaving ink marks on the edges of the envelopes

There is a possibllity that your ink cartridge at the printing nozzle has excessive ink.
Remove the ink cartridge and clean the face and edges around the ink nozzle
with a swab or paper towel.

I'm trying to print wedding invitations on my Canon MP460. I'm using a cardstock thickness of paper and have set the ink levels for "Other Photo Paper" on my Mac. The paper has been going through...

Sounds like the ink isn't having time to dry and is rubbing along paper.

Paper may be too thick. If it prints OK on normal paper (test first) but not on thick card, then it doesn't support thick paper settings.

Envelope printing

I have an older, but similar, 5510 model with the same problem. A partial solution that works about 75% of the time is to tuck the envelope flap inside the envelope and give the end of the envelope that is to feed into the machine a slight curve by gentlly bending it on both sides. Then make sure there are only a few sheets of paper in the paper tray (less than 1/8" thick stack). Position the envelope so it is only about 1/2" from the end of the paper in the tray so the feed rollers have to transport it into the machine. I also have to set the margin for the return address in Word to be 1" from the edge of the paper so it prints in proper position, but this may be a problem with my Word 2000.

Dell A940 smeared printing

Our Dell AIO A940 stopped printing black ink (it went throught the motions but he paper came out blank). Finally got it to print by selecting:

PRINT, PROPERTIES, PAPER SETUP, SPECIALTY PAPER, PHOTO/GLOSSY

Maybe it will work for you! Good luck!

PIXMA 830 Smudges when printing envelopes

On my MP780, be careful to select the appropriate paper type; I was getting black smudges on the left side of my envelopes until I explicitly set that my paper type was "envelope" from "plain paper".
Another idea is to adjust the "ink drying wait time" to a higher level.
