If you're saying the channel awaakens when you crank it, there is the slighest chance that a common control may have developed a high-resistance or 'dead' spot and is causing your symptom. Turn the POWER OFF and operate every control throughout its range a number of times, especially rarely-used ones like Tape Monitors and the Mute control.

If it still doesn't work you might want to prove if its a low-level signal loss or a high level amp failure. One way would be to run an RCA cable pair from the Tape Out to any other device (even a TV with speakers) you might have that accepts an audio input. If IT can't detect receive the DEAD Channel you

Factory reset sony mhc-6700

I don't think that will cure the problem. Volume controls these days are done by an IC. If it fails it can cause the volume to go up on one channel and not on the other. If you trace the wiring back from the volume control you will eventually run into the chip. I would have thought that the two channels will go into one chip and not two separate chips for each channel, but it depends on how complex the system is. If you are lucky the PCB will even tell you that the area is tone and volume control.

Sony str-de185 left channel very scratchy and poor; not speaker, wire, or connections

Could be an open resistor in the amp for that channel. Might have to have a pro look at it.

The sound of the LEFT MAIN Cannel disappears on my YAMAHA DSP AX-1

The fact that sound appears at max volume means that it is getting past and through the pre-amp stage. So it would appear to be in the main power amp stage the problem. It would depend what drives the channel, but if it's transistor driven I would suspect one of them.

The receiver works ok until the vol is reduced and the right front channel drops out. Increasing the vol usually picks up the dead speaker but it drops out again when the vol is reduced. I've tried...

Make sure the audio level on the left and right channels are balanced. Check the menu for audio levels to adjust and make sure they are not maladjusted. If all levels are adjusted properly then the volume control or volume control circuity may be at fault.

Asus A8N32 SLI Deluxe Motherboard audio problem

The new boards multiplex the connectors on the back panel to maximize use. Open the Realtek control panel and configure for sterio 2.1. Also, these new boards do not provide any power drive, so to get decent volume, you will need amplified speakers.

Loss of volume on left channel

Marantz SR 5200/6200 lost audio or crackling on left or right channel except in mode s-direct is now fixed !
The root cause is a defective inegrated circuit on DSP board (the one with digital inputs). To fix it change the chip CS4391 by a new one or better by the improved version CS4392. On my device a capacitor was cut close to this IC : replace one 1uF after changing the IC. For any question search me with my callsing "F5RCT"; i have a spare IC for the one who is able to change it !
