BackGround Music on an idle phone, if it's allowed, pressing 1 turns the BGM on and off.

Ringing comes from the ringer switch on the left side of the phone and system programming.
System programming is usually done from a display phone at extension 101 (or 11) and involves programs in the 400's for ringing (408-410 on a TA box).

You transfer a call in a couple of different ways, one is by pressing TRANSFER and dialing the extension, one is by putting the call on HOLD and calling them on the intercom to a specific line, and the 3rd is by just pressing the preprogrammed DSS button, fairly problematic in a phone that only has 12 buttons with lights.

The 7730 was first delivered with the TA series systems, but they are backward compatible with every KX-T series and forward compatible with even the latest Pana digital boxes of the TD and TDA/TDE/NCP series.

How Do I for some of my lines only to ring on certain phones? I dont want the rest of my phones to ring.

Changing ringing on a Partner system is done on either ext 10 or 11.
At one of those ext's press the feature key and "00"
Next press the left hand intercom twice
The display should say system programming

Press the right hand intercom once. The display should say Central telephone Programming.

Enter in the extension number that you want to program.

Press the line that you want to ring.
A solid light on the line means immediate ringing
A slow flashing light means delayed ringing (meaning the phone will wait 3 rings before starting to ring.)
A fast flashing light means no ringing.

When finished with that station press the right hand intercom and enter in the next extension to program and set ringing accordingly.

Press feature "00" to logout

I have a Panasonic TDA-50 that insists on playing a chime-like music on hold (MOH). How can I shut off the internal MOH and allow the external MOH to work??thanks

Wow. If we told you, we'd have to kill you :-)

There's an easy way and a hard way to do it, and both require you to know the Installer password to the sytem. In the Maintenance Console, you need 2.2 BGM and Hold Music, or from the main phone, programs 710-712. 710 is the source for BGM which you change to EXTERNAL, 711 is the source for MOH which becomes BGM 1 (the only port on a 50) and 712 is the source for transfer calls (either ringback or MOH.)

If you don't have the magic password and instructions for getting into the system, you'll need to call your Pana installer for access.

My BGM, back ground music used to work, now it does not. We use it only for music at our work stations. We press BGM for some music then toggle it off if necessary. It automatically shuts off if the...

Since a TD system BGM is just a single press "1" on an idle phone to turn on or off, I'm hard pressed to understand what you mean about BGM being a key. If you press "1" on a display phone and it says BGM On, and it doesn't work, go back to wherever the system cabinet is and look for the BGM port on the side of the phone system. It probably means the source is turned off or disconnected.

Lucent Partner 18D - Caller ID not working

The caller id information is sent from your local telco provider after the first ring and might not be able to be extended to the individual sets, try backing off the ring to answer on your voice mail from 2 to 3 rings to see if the information is then passed on. The Voice Messaging System message is being sent from the system showing who transfered the call to you. You should also notice that the ring pattern when that message is displayed is a standard ring followed by a beep meaning a transfer is taking place.

Trouble with the display

Hi Mary

Which system are you using?
If you are using panasonic kx td 1232 then just press the * key keeping the handset on hook.

If you are using a panasonic kx tda system then just press the transfer button keeping the handset onhook.

To change the date you will need to goin the program mode by pressing the Program button followed by *# 1234. then it will show on the display sys pgm no : enter 000 and press autodial or enter. Then you can change the date.

Without looking up details on versions, I think you may have an early D1232. Look at the plate on lower edge/front and see if there is a number in a circle. If there is no version number, the serial number will tell when the system was made.

Call will not Transfer to Voice Mail

Typically you want your phone system to ring your phones (say extension 10, 11 and 15) and then if no one answers after so many rings the call is transfered to the port the voice mail is on (let's say it's port 16) The voice mail is set to answer right away but does not "ring" until the call is transfered to it. This way (at 4 rings) if a call comes in on line 1 and you answer after 3 rings but a call comes in on line 2 at the same time, the first ring on line 2 will not make the total = 4 and set off the voice mail. I would guess the port at your voice mail is not set to ring and nothing is set up to transfer calls to your voice mail. Did you set this up yourself? How did you program the phone system?
