Trouble with Transcend 640Gb external harddrive; chkdsk does not work.

You will have to format it. Format it in NTFS mode since it is high capacity drive. I think you are trying to use it for the first time. This also occurs if you have problem in hard drive but it is rare. Let me know after formatting, it is working or not. I will help you further.

I just purchased a StoreJet 2M 320 GB drive. I would like to format it for use with my iMac. The MAC software doesn't seem to have a solution. How do I format the drive?

When the flash memoryUSB hard drive device appears to malfunction it maybe possible to restoreit by reformatting it using a computer with Windows OS. Insert the flash or USB hard drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - AdministrativeTools - Computer Management - Disk Management. Then right click on Disk 1removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted itwill indicate that it is Healthy. You need to format the flash or external drive. Format thedrive as primary drive and in FAT32. (FAT32 will allow data to be exchangedbetween MACs and PCs also between XP/Vista and earlier versions of Windows).

Hai i have transcand stor get 320GB hard disk. my propblem my computer detect the hard disk but when i try to open that it asks "do you want format it?" what shoud i do?.

If the computer is prompting that the drive needs to be formatted, this means either the drive has become currupt (not likely) or that the drive hasn't been formatted or is an unrecognised format

if the hard drive was formatted on a Mac or Linux machine without choose Fat32 format, the drive will be prompted to be formatted under a windows machine

if there is no information on that drive, i'd suggest just formatting it

remember formatting a hard drive removes all information off that hard drive.

Hi i forrmated my hp external hard drive to my panasonic tv now i cant yous it on my computer it wont even appear on the computer how can i fix it so i can use it for my computer

If you have Windows in your computer, you go to Start and right click "computer"... or "my computer" and select Manage. Go to the Disk Management, and you should find a removable drive there, right click it, and create a new partition, format that partition ( you can give that partition a label, a file system and whether a quick format or a normal one. After the format is complete you can exit the computer management window and try exploring your computer ( there should be the new volume ).
Note: this works mainly for xp, because the computer management might be found in different locations in Vista or 7 (haven't tried them yet).

I'm trying to format my hard disk but i cant this problem always appears "Windows Unable to complete the format" what should i do? ive done different ways to format it and nothing works please...

There are two possible reasons for this issue. 1. bad hard drive... 2. bad installer (operating system disc).

It does not completely load the needed software that's why it's showing up that certain error message. Here's my suggestion:

- Try a different installer. If you can't find a different operating system's disc, then, purchase one.

It would surely fix the problem if your hard drive isn't bad. If the hard drive is bad then you have to replace it.

I hope this helps.

How do I format my new WD Elements SE 500GB for Mac OS Snow Leopard

hi.

follow instructions below
1> Open the system drive, usually titled "Macintosh HD." Open Applications, then Utilities and double click the "Disk Utility" program to open it. A window will open giving a list of all the drives currently mounted on the computer.
2> Select the disk that needs to be formatted on the left. It is not possible to format the startup disk unless the system has booted from the Install Disk. It is important to note that formatting the startup disk will permanently erase the data stored on the disk. If you are planning on erasing the startup disk, back up all important files and applications.
3> Click on the "Erase" tab to the right of the list of drives. The window will now display the options for erasing the hard drive and formatting it to work on the Macintosh computer.
4> Select the Volume Format from the pop-up list. In most cases it's best to leave it at "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" as this is the default. This setting is the best option for running Mac OS X. If there are other requirements for the disk, then select the format that best suits your needs. If you have questions about the formats, refer to the Apple user's manual.
5> Name the hard drive. Type a name for the disk in the field where it asks for the name. This name will always appear when the disk is mounted on a Macintosh computer.
6> Click the erase button. A window will open asking to verify the erase procedure. Click the erase button in this window to start the process of erasing the disk. Once the process is complete, the drive will appear with the name it was given on the left side of the window with the list of drives and on the desktop of the Macintosh computer.

The disk driver is not formated do you want

Flash drives are composed of a memory chip/ storage and USB interface. The above message appears only when the USB interface is working but memory area is faulty. Unfortunately, the chip replacement is not possible.

To confirm that the problem is with the memory area, right click on my computer - goto manage, then disk management and look for flash drive. The flash will appear but no memory would appear.

Flash drives are mostly under warranty for atleast one year. Claim warranty, if possible.

Hope this helps!
