Lego broke the front glass of the LCD........... time for a trip to Best Buy or Circuit City for a new TV. Cost to replace the screen will exceed the cost of a new TV.

White lines across tv screen

Without seeing the lines I can't be sure what your set has wrong, but here are a some possibilities:

If the lines are lines are confined to the top inch or two of the screen and the picture looks otherwise normal, the trouble is bad capacitors in the vertical output circuit. Fixable by replacing the bad parts.

If diagonal lines are across the entire face of the picture tube and the picture looks washed out, the trouble is often a bad capacitor on the 200-volt line to the picture tube. This may be on the main circuit board near the horizontal output transformer, or on the small circuit board plugged onto the end of the picture tube. Again, replacing the bad capacitor can fix this.

If your TV is actually an RCA, someone may have bumped a rear-panel adjustment. On the back of the TV near the bottom right are two small knobs. RCA left these adjustments exposed inside of putting them inside the set like other manufacturers. These sometimes get bumped if someone was behind the set cleaning, or if a pet got back there and hit them with a tail. The top knob adjusts focus, and the bottom knob adjusts something called G2 or screen voltage. If this gets turned up too high it can cause the faded picture and diagonal white lines. Turn the adjustment down until a black screen looks black instead of gray.

A bad picture tube or horizontal output transformer can also cause lines through the picture. If this is the case with your set, it's time for a new TV. The transformer is relatively inexpensive but labor costs aren't, and the repair bill may exceed $200. If the tube is bad, there's no point even considering repair. The tube cost alone exceeds the cost of new TV.

Hopefully your lines are easy and cheap to fix. Good luck, and thanks for using Fixya!

It has caused a screen bleed of the pixels. There is no way on repairing this unless you replace the whole screen which will cost as much as the t.v. itself. As time persist, the lines will become larger as the crack will spread.

Kid threw remote at screen, lines going across it....

The LCD Screen is damaged beyond repair. Cost to replace TV is cheaper than repair.

3 year old threw drumstick, and hit the screen small spider web at impact point and vertical colored lines lenght of screen

Unfortunately he has damaged the screen, the only way to fix this is to have the screen replaced, this can cost almost the price of a new TV. If you have home contents insurance you could possible put in a claim for accidental damage.

TV got hit with a toy

This is indicative of a cracked PDP panel (the plasma panel itself). Even though there may not be impact damage on the outside (the filter), it has probably cracked the inner layers. Unfortunately, it is probably more expensive to fix than to replace the entire unit.

TV attacked by hard plastic shark

I'm sorry to say that once the screen is broken due to those accidents, there is no way to fix the screen. Is time to buy another TV at this point because the screen repair it could even be more expensive then the new TV.

Thin horizontal line across the entire TV screen

Hi, your correct it is collapsed vertically, you should have re-soldered it before it failed because now you may have to replace the IC but I would re-solder it first as this possibly will fix it, look for a small aluminum (silver colored) heatsink with a black 7-10 pin IC screwed onto the heatsink, flip the main board over and this IC will probably have 2-3 (or more) pins broken, re-solder with 60-40 tin/lead solder, you didn`t give make & model number so thats all the info I can give you, good luck, BMW Rider
