Lens errors usually (but not always) occur when the camera's lens has been damaged (from being dropped) or if the lens is hindered from extending. The best way to make sure neither occurs, is to use the supplied hand wrist (which will save it from a fall) or before turning the camera on, make sure it's in review mode and then turn it on, making sure you don't obstruct the lens.

Seeing as this camera is brand new...I would return it, because it could just be a dud camera. If you do get it replaced, make sure you are always very careful with how you handle it, especially when turning it on or off...

p.s. near the back of your User Guide there is a list of Error Messages. "Lens error, restart camera". Canon advises you to turn the camera off, then on again. If the problems continues it will need to be serviced. So, returning it, would be the best option, because it is under warranty.

Try just some basic things first-just to make sure it's actually the lens that's broken. Replace the batteries with fresh ones. Failing that, replace the memory card.

Lens error what to do
You're gonna need a lens replacement.

If you're out of warranty, there are third party place that replace them such as camera lens repairs.

If you want to do it yourself, there are also free camera repair guide websites that show you how to replace the lens, the replacement part is usually available on ebay.

Lens error
when you turn it on try to help out the lens by pushing on its sides and while checking if the lens is even..try to push it lightly to level the lens...error lens occur when your lens are not aligned sometimes just getting it back or leveling it would be enough if it does not work most probably you need to get it replaced. unfortunately it is really hard to find replacement for this part, you might need to buy a 2nd hand camera same model and get the part you need,just make sure that the part you need is still working you can get low priced cams in ebay...

LENS ERROR 2 on my Casio Ex-V7
I read on the Casio website that this is due to an impact, meaning, the camera must have fallen or hit something really hard and strong.

Lens error 2 indicates that there is something wrong in the lens assembly. One possible damage concerns the image stabilization mechanism.

I also own a Casio EX-V7. My sister dropped it so hard that a dent has appeared on one of the front corners. Everytime I switch on the camera on record mode, LENS ERROR 2 appears for a few seconds.

Despite this, I can happily use the camera as usual. However, it's just annoying to see the Error.

I'm planning to bring it to a service center within a month from now.

Lens Error, Restart
Hi

What you are seeing is a generic stuck lens error message, turning off the camera and turning it on again will not fix the lens unfortunately.

Your lens needs to be cleaned or repaired, and if it cant be repaired it needs to be replaced. There are online places that will do it for a decent price and there are others that overcharge by way too much.
