If there's no obvious removable cover over the bulb (and the owner's manual doesn't address it) some disassembly may be required.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

If it's an over the range type, remove the vent grille across the top and see if bulbs can be accessed there. There may be a panel on the bottom covering the light(s), instead.

If not, chances are you'll have to remove it from the wall, then remove the outer cover. If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

Once it's out of the wall, the outer cover (wrapper) will need to be removed, just as you'll need to do on a counter top model.

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, and a special driver (such as a T20H Torx type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

Bulbs can be had in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores.

Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

Where are the fuses located in a Gold star microwave model #MVH1670ST

Kathy, when you say it is dead, I assume you mean that there are no lights or anything when you open the door. If that is the case, you will need to take off the outer shell of the microwave and look for where the cord enters the back of the unit. If you have a black and white wire as well as the green ground wire coming from your power cord, you need to follow the black wire to it's termination. It will stop at either a fuse holder, which will be where you fuse is located, or it will go to a small circuit board and you should find your fuse located on the board. Once you pull the fuse out, you can look on each end of the fuse to find out what size fuse you need to replace it. Let me remind you to also be sure you un-plug the microwave before doing any work on removing the cover. Hope this helps!

SAMSUNG MICROWAVE FAN STOPS WORKING. COULD IT JUST BE THE FUSE?

I would guess, I do not know for sure that the fa motor seized and blew the fuse, during the process the internal protection device on the fan motor opened giving you exactly what you are describing.

No power to the microwave, after storm.

The low voltage brownout let the oven draw too much current, and likely an internal fuse failed. Typically after removing a dozen Philips screws you can take off the cover and locate the fuse, which you can match and replace. [If it still has "power" (like the lights come on) but has stopped heating, then it could be any number of other issues (main capacitor fail, etc)] I've changed a fuse or two in my day, and years ago a failed capacitor, with success.

My microwave just stopped working. No problems until now. In the middle of cooking it just stopped. No display, no beeps, no bouttons working, no light inside. There is power to the outlet I can plug in...

for the microwave to stop suddenly it has blown its internal fuse this is located under the top panel of the unit it should be white with two silver tips ( ceramic fuse) in some cases the fuse will blow for no good reason on the other hand it can be a serious fault the fastest way to check this is to replace the fuse and re test the unit if the fuse blows instantly then bin the microwave if not it the fuse may have simply failed

best of luck always remember unplug the unit first and always replace with same size and and current fuse

please rank this advice if it helped you

I have a GE SpacesaverXL model JVM1350BW. It does not heat up. The interior light, surface light, fan, clock, keypad all work normally. When a cooking mode is chosen and START is pressed there is a...

I wouldn't worry about the sensor error right away.

Sometimes that's just caused when the door is opened before steam could be detected or steam was not detected in the maximum amount of time.

Once it's all working again, if you still get the error regularly, it may be a bad humidity sensor.

If the internal cooling fan IS running when you try to cook AND the oven is not heating, it's probably a failed secondary interlock relay on the control circuit board.

If the internal cooling fan is NOT running when you try to cook AND it's not heating, the bottom door switch is probably the culprit.

Here's is a file on checking and replacing door switches.

We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are working.

Listen to that very carefully, and listen to yours to see if the cooling fan is working.

When I say internal cooling fan, I do not mean the hood vent exhaust fan which you can turn on and off manually.

I'm instead talking about the internal fan which comes on automatically whenever you microwave.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

My Maytag microwave stopped heating. Everything

Generally the magnetron (the part that heats the food) is the cause if everything else still works. Unfortunately replacing the magnetron is barely cheaper than buying a new microwave though you can check out repairclinic.com to decide whether you want to attempt replacing the part.

Let me know how this works out for you.

Has no power

If your microwave oven doesn't seem to work at all, check these: Fuses Usually, when your microwave oven doesn't work it all, the internal fuse (thermal fuse) is blown. This fuse protects both you and the oven. When it blows, you need to have a qualified appliance repair technician replace it. Door switch If the fuse isn't the problem, check the door hooks and the door-release button. When these are broken, the door switch doesn't activate, so the oven can't work.

My goldstar micro stopped working. No display. it's dead!! Is there an interior fuse and where is it located? Thanks

You may have a blown internal fuse. You''ll need to unplug the unit, remove the outside cover and follow the line cord and you should find the fuse.

Replace it with the EXACT same value that was labeled on the original fuse. You'll probably be able to find a replacement at any Radio Shack store or hardware store.

Replace the cover and plug the unit back in. Hopefully nothing was damaged and the unit will play again.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!
