The battery should be replaced, and if it still doesn't work, try getting a new remote.

the IR receiver on the TV may be defective, but it is probably better to call up panasonic and order a new remote and see if that works first

Unit turns on and off but nothing else works

Simultaneously press the [CHANNEL UP] and [CHANNEL DOWN] buttons on the front of the DVD Recorder for approximately 10 - 15 seconds (until the unit powers off).

Disconnect the wall outlet. Wait for 10 minutes. Then power up.

It this still does not help....and If you are capable of taking the risk check out DMR-EZ47 Firmware Installation Instructions

Familiarize yourself with all the steps and especially the page 7,8 before you attempt this,

Why does playback start automatically?

This will be on the menu of the player somewhere, perhaps under playback. If you don't have manual you can download a free PDF from the Panasonic website.

Need to find a manual for remote eur7721x10

Since the EUR7721x10 remote shipped with specific Panasonic DVD/VCR units, the manual for the DVD/VCR recorder may give you the information that you need. One of the models is the DMR-E75V. Panasonic has the manual on the product support page: http://shop.panasonic.com/support-only/DMR-E75VS.html?supportpage=true . The direct link to the manual is http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMRE75V.PDF . The remote buttons are described on page 6; the TV codes are given on page 17. (Note: these codes will probably only work on TVs that are older then the programming in the remote.)

I do not know of any available manuals for the remote that are separate from the DVD/VCR Recorder manual. I hope this helps.

L.S. How to reset Panasonic DMR-EH55 DVD Recorder / HDD Recorder to factory settings?

You can either go into menu (pressing 'FUNCTIONS' button on remote) and look for 'RESTORE DEFAULT SETTINGS' or similar heading, or you can (while unit is on) on the front of the unit (not the remote) press CH UP and CH DOWN buttons together for 5 seconds - the unit will switch to standby. Give either one a try. (refer to page 60 onwards in your user manual - these pages detail 'settings').

If you cannot find your manual, it is available for download (free) - http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Video/DVD-Recorders-Players/DVD-Recorders/Operating-Instructions/model.DMR-EH55S.O#ts

I hope this helps in some small way. Thanks for asking FixYa!

How do I reset the clock for the one hour time switch? This was the first DST switch since broadcasting went digital. The loss of the TV guide is no big deal but cannot I cannot change the clock. The...

The Panasonic DMR-EH50 can be reset like it was brand new. I assume the DMR-EH55 can be also. The up and down channel buttons are located on the front of the unit behind the small door in the center. With the unit on press and hold these two buttons for atleast 10 seconds. This will restore the unit like it was new and you will need to go thru set up procedure. The above action will put the unit in the off position. When you turn it on it will guide you thru the set up procedure. Once this is complete you can press the setup button and manually set the clock, however, the unit will need to be shut down for 24 hours to allow the tv stations line-up to be restored.
