Magenta color still not working but no notice is given. Other colors work.

We no longer get the notice of magenta head replacement but magenta is not working. Printing out the alignment page and all colors work but magenta. It says it is running the 4800 optimized DPI alignment. Proceeding with directions to scan the document in the scanner to get full alignment. This will not solve the magenta problem.

How to solve my print color problem

Assuming that you have ink for any color, the problem can either be clogged print-head or an electronic (board) failure no longer controlling a color/colors.

The linked procedure may help:

This model printer has only two slots for ink cartridges. One is for a black ink cartrigde and the other is for a tri-color cartridge which contains cyan, magenta and yellow inks.
This tri-color cartridge has run out of yellow ink, you need to replace this tri-color cartridge.

The magenta cartridge isn't working correctly. This is why you're only getting the other colors (blue is cyan, green is cyan and yellow, and then yellow).

Try removing and reseating the magenta cartridge. If that doesn't work, use a new magenta cartridge (the cartridge itself may have been defective).

I wasn't able to view a manual for this machine, as it's been discontinued and Lexmark no longer offers the PDF on it. If you have a "clean print heads" option, use it. It may require more than one try. If you don't have that option, then all possibilities have been covered.

Hope that's helpful.

PRINTER (not web camera!) HP Deskjet 712c Printer began printing mostly blackPrinter began printing mostly black & magenta so I replaced the color cartridge. Color did not improve and then black...

First run the CLEAN HEADS and see if that helps. If you don't use your printer at least once a week the Print Heads get dried out and will not allow the ink to pass through to the paper.
Go to control Panel and click on Printess. Then when the window comes up, CLICK on Properties TAB and then in the next window, CLICK on CLEANING.
You may have to replace your PRINT HEAD if that doesn't work.
Hope this is of some help. Bud

Magenta cartridge not working despite being full

This happens due to Laser sCANNER Contamination.

Light Output that typically starts fading along the outside edges of the media. The first noticable color would be Magenta.

Dusty Environments can lead to Laser Scanner Contamination. The dust layer on the mirrors prevents proper transmission of the laser output in the imaging system leading to faded colors on the printed page. The initial stages of this failure typically occur in the magenta or yellow color planes as faded or light color. Often the left side is more faded than the middle.

You may need to contact the nearest Authorized Service Tech and get teh Laser Scanner replaced with the new released service part that has a mirror in a location where the dust ideally cannot reach eazily.

Also, please ensure that the printer is relocated from the current location to a more dust free zone.

Replacing Cartridges on the HP Color Laserjet CM1312nfi

Yes, you will replace the whole cartridge. Open the front door and pull out the cartridge drawer. Grab the handle for the magenta and pull it straight up. There should be directions in the box.
