All right! Based on my experiences, there are two ways to go for you:
1). Try to show these hidden files back like this:
Start => Run => Type in "control folders" and press "OK" =>Click "View" and hook "Show hidden files and folders"=> Press "OK".
2). Try to recover these inaccessible files back for free with the help of a file data recovery freeware here:
http://blog4mark.blogspot.com/2012/12/deleted-files-recovery.html

Next time, you should never save the needed files on only one hard drive.

Try to look your USB drive status in Disk Management, after connecting it to your computer.

If its showing 'RAW', that means your USB is having file system corruption and needs to be formatted. Moreover, you can go for the 'View Show Hidden File and Folders' to see if its not mark as hidden.

If none of the option helps, using file recovery program is the only way that can helps you to get your stuff back.
P.S.: Avoid using USB till you successfully recover the files as using it further might permanently delete all important files from it.

If your files are not showing up on a USB flash stick, you can try to recover them with software like: http://download.cnet.com/VaioSoft-Recovery-Manager/3000-2094_4-10286449.html?tag=mncol;1
It should also work on SD, SDHC, memory stick (Pro, Duo), multimedia cards (MMC), Xd, and other common camera card formats.
Please leave feedback if this was helpful. Thanks.

My 2gb usb it only shown 8mb

click start control panel administrative tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes

automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now start

you might tick one box then return after its finished the first repair then return and tick the second box you should not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive

I found that you get best results by ticking one box then returning after it has finished then tick the other box

if still no joy

Right click on usb drive select properties you will have an array of options

Select the hardware option then select your drive properties policies

restore defaults

In XP

Right click on your drive select properties then on customize restore Default in W 7

The 1 gb pen drive is shown in my computer & and the task bar but on clicking the icon the "Insert Drive " message is displayed.

Try to run a disk check.

Right click on the drive's icon, select properties, go to the "tools" tab.

Select "check for errors".

Depending on the operating system on your computer, this could be called "run scan disk", "run disk check" or "check volume for errors".

Select the "Tools' tab and then the "Check Now" button in the "Check the volume for errors"Box. Select both oxes and click "Start". Hopefully this will recover all of your drive.
