SOURCE: Pioneer VSX-72TXV used to work but trying HDMI just broke it...
I fixed it myself. Didn't realize that I loosened speaker cables on the wall panel when I moved the receiver and two were touching...

To correct this problem you have to go to the display settings on your xbox and turn off display detect.

Hi,
There is no dedicated DVD/LD "HDMI" port on your receiver. I would guess this is your problem.
The (DVD/LD) IN 1 port is for component A/V cables. There are 3 HDMI sockets (2 IN, 1 OUT) directly above the DVD/LD port. Therefore, you are not going to get any response from the receiver if you set the input source to DVD/LD when you are using an HDMI cable.
I need to make sure we are working on the same definitions here before we go any further. Are you using a component type cable (3 video + 2 Audio plugs on each end) or an actual HDMI cable, like this:

There seems to be a lot of confusion over HDMI cables. A component cable will carry an HD signal, but it is not an HDMI cable. HDMI refers exclusively to the cable type in the image above.
I can definitely help you to get this working, but I need to make sure we are on the same page before doing so. Some Pioneer receivers have the HDMI ports disabled at the factory and they need to be re-enabled by the user.
If you can let me know which cable type you are actually using, we should be able to sort this fairly quickly.

BElectric

Your receiver has 2 HDMI in with one HDMI out, 3 Component in and one out, and two difital optical in. If the bluray player has HDMI out this woukd be your best bet because HDMI carries the audio and video. If it has Component out, you would have to provde sound through the digital optical. Not knowing what blueray player or kind of tv you have, it's hard to advise so I may be over explaining. Anyway, we've touched on the bluray player to receiver. Out of your three HDMI slots on your receiver only one is HDMI out so make sure you're in the right one. Idaelly you have a DVD/blueray in on your receiver so on your receiver you would select "DVD" when playing. If your hook up is correct you may have to try another HDMI cable to test.
