If not enough. take apart the source hose and the inlet valve and look for restrictions..Machines now days use less water and the inlet of water is timed and not controlled by the float switch, soooo restricted water means you have less water.

I would disconnect the hose at the inlet valve, put it in a bucket and test it's flow. Sometimes the rubber washer deteriorates in the shut off valve, under the sink, for the dishwasher.... But both the hose and the inlet valve to the machine can have screens that plug up...

Water Inlet Valve

The dishwasher has an electrical water valve called a water inlet valve. If the dishwasher won't fill with water, the water inlet valve might be defective. These valves are not repairable and will have to be replaced.

Float

The float assembly is normally inside the dishwasher near the door on the floor of the dishwasher. If something gets stuck underneath it and holds the float assembly up, the dishwasher won't fill with water. If the float assembly moves freely up and down, the float switch might be defective.

Float Switch

The float switch is actuated by the float assembly. It is a protection device designed to prevent the dishwasher from overfilling. If the dishwasher won't fill with water, it may be because this float switch is defective or stuck.

Water Supply Problem

The dishwasher is connected to the hot water supply from the house. Check to be sure the household water supply valve is turned on. Over time, calcium deposits can build up in the water supply valve or in the small filter screen inside the water inlet valve. The water supply line may need to be removed from the water inlet valve of the dishwasher, then run some water into a bucket to see if there is enough pressure. Be certain to turn off the water before working on the water line.

Switch dishwasher on and starts up ok but when it comes to pumping water in it stops and does not do anything else.

Hello

Investigate these five areas if your dishwasher won't fill with water:

As water is filling your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. When the float reaches a predetermined level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling. Check your float assembly. Replace it if you need to.

The water that fills your dishwasher lifts the float, and when it reaches a certain level, it acts as a trigger for the float switch. The float triggers the float switch to shut off, thereby shutting off the flow of water into the dishwasher. A defective switch may interfere with your dishwasher's filling ability.

Your dishwasher may not be filling with water simply because the water valve's filter screens are dirty and debris-filled. Gain access to your water inlet valve and try cleaning it out. This might be enough to solve the problem. You can learn how to access your water inlet valve in the replace a dishwasher water inlet valve section.

Alternatively, your water inlet valve could be defective altogether. That could be the reason your dishwasher is not filling. Test it for continuity. If it is not functioning as it should, replace it.

Your dishwasher's drain valve is regulated by a drain solenoid. If the solenoid is malfunctioning, it may not allow the drain valve to funtion properly, which in turn could be the reason your dishwasher is not filling with water. Investigate your drain valve and test the solenoid. If the solenoid is faulty, replace it.

Hello. My dishwasher (Miele G 579 SC) does not fill water enough. When filling is done I must fill manually with a bucket to get water to a sufficient level. What might be the problem? Kind regards...

Hi

When the Dishwasher won't fill you'll need to check for the water inlet hose, the water inlet valve and the float switch assembly. When the water fills your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. As the float reaches a certain threshold level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling. Sometimes it can happen due to float valve and on other occasions due to float switch. Inspect the water hose coming to the dishwasher for any blockages. If the hose is not clogged then check the water inlet valve for any clogs, if the water will not even fill for few seconds then certainly the water inlet valve is bad and should be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to check continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly. However, if the valve is fine then the float switch assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

No water coming in the washer

Hi

When the Dishwasher is not filling in, you'll need to check for the water inlet valve, the filter screen and the float switch/assembly. Also check for the float assembly inside the dishwasher. When water is filling your dishwasher, a float rises along with it.
If these are fine then it's due to Water Inlet Valve. Use a multimeter and check for the continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly.

Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

No water coming into dishwasher

dishwasher will not fill with water: This is often the fill valve. You can test the fill valve coil for continuity with a ohm meter, no needle movement = bad fill valve. You can also test the fill valve for 120 volts at the fill valve with a volt meter, power there and no fill = bad fill valve. No 120 volts there, you will have to trace power back to find the trouble maker. Test things like the float and float switch, wires and timer. Fill valves are very bad for working once or twice and then quitting, if your dishwasher fills the first and second fill cycles and then no more water through the rest of the cycle, replace the fill valve. You will need to remove the access panels to get at the fill valve. Dishwasher fill valves also have a screen built into the valve entrance, this can also get all clogged up and need to be cleaned. ----- There's no water entering the machine If there's no water entering your dishwasher, check these: Water-inlet valve Float switch Water-inlet valve The water-inlet valve lets water enter the machine. If this valve is defective, you need to completely replace it. It's usually located behind the lower access panel on the left or right side. It's the device with the main water line (usually copper) from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it. Float switch The float switch is a small electrical switch that's located right below the dishwasher "floor." Above the switch, on the inside of the dishwasher, is a plastic cylinder that floats up as water fills the dishwasher. If this switch is defective, or if the plastic float gets caught or trapped in the raised position, the water can't enter the dishwasher. If the float switch is defective, you need to replace it.

Dishwasher Won't Take Water

power for your water valve is controlled by the timer and the float switch. You can remove the bottom cover to access the float switch and water valve. They both are on the left side of the unit, float switch is right up front and water valve is on the bottom. Test float switch continuity with ohms( always test ohms with power off!) and check for ac voltage at water valve. You can make a test lead and hook up water valve straight to ac to by-pass timer. If you need any more help let me know. Here is a parts and wiring diagram

Electrolux Dishwasher 24 " not enough water new fill valve new float hot water Water lines clear. water too low float never rises amd the dishwasher runs water barly covers the top of the filter straner...

if i was at your home as a repairman this is what i would do.if your water pressure was good at the kitchen sink,i would turn water off to dishwasher undo water connection at the fill valve, and place water line in a bucket and turn on water.if ok and still not getting water then prob with fill valve.soooo you have a new valve, did you check the water pressure to the valve? if yes good because then you also flushed out that in coming water line.because[and i have done this a few times]if not flushed their could have been minerals setting in that supply line so when you turn the water back on it pushes that stuff into the new water valve screen and blocks it up also.if your getting water then its trying to do its job,it just cant get enough water and the timer times out so no more voltage to the water valve.thats a lot said but there no mystery to it.the timer allows for lets say a 70 sec fill at 40 lbs water presure ,seventy seconds up that's it .the float only stops it from flooding, too much water.it dose not tell the machine that there is not enough! so because its letting in some water that tells me the float switch is closed[and it should be]leting the voltage to the water valve.the water valve has to let in enough water then.i know i mixed up words a bit but i hope this helps you understand whats happening.God bless ,if you need more advice you can email thru FixYa tom
