With all due respect, what are you doing to it?
If you use it with nothing in the cavity, that will kill the magnetron otherwise it will last for years and years.
Very unusual and Bosch is a well respected name.
If there is a probem with the oven, Bosch will replace it so take it up with Bosch.

Brand new microwave never used turns on for 2 seconds then shuts off. Model hmt5750. Callers customer support, they have no idea. Before I call a repairman does anyone have an idea I may try.

Take it back to the place of purchase and demand a replacement, you are covered under warranty. The problem could be caused by a faulty magnetron.

WHY DID MY MICROWAVE OVEN BURST INTO A FLAME AFTER 30 SECONDS ON HIGH POWER? TWICE. LMV1314B bought Jan. 2008

Hi,
Actually you don't need to replace the microwave, you just need to replace the carboard piece or "wave guide" and replace the magnetron inside the microwave behind the cardboard piece. The magnetron will commonly arc out to the wave guide if the wave guide gets something that splatters on it. The repair isn't cheap because the magnetron costs about $200 and the wave guide is another $30 or so, but if you replace both these parts you should be good to go again.
The magnetron usually have 5 years warranty, however you need to speak with manufacturer itself for the same.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I need a magnatron that's under an 8 year warranty. But I need to know who to call and how much to install?

Unfortunately you will not find anybody that will give more than year on the magnetron and labor is usually 30 to 90 days. There are two ways to go, get appliance repairman, or a tv technician, rates will vary depending on who you call in to do the job, but! in general the repairs for parts and labor will run more than a new microwave oven.

Microwave stopped heating

I had the same oven for one and a half years and had the same problem. Had the sears repairman come out and he said the magnetron burned out and needed replacing for $285. It was never under warranty with the warranty that came with oven. I couldn't believe it! We had an independent repairman look at it and he found a design flaw that causes the magnetron to blow. If you replace the matnetron (megnatron?) it will work for awhile, maybe, but then just need to be replaced again. It's cheaper to buy a new microwave. In fact, I got out our old microwave that's over 20 yrs. old and still works--just isn't as fast and as new ovens. Good luck!

Ge spacesaver microwave ...it is 5 years old and stopped heating

I have an over the oven microwave that blew a magnetron after 4 years. Could be the same thing. It was out of warranty for the free labor, so I took it apart (I'm kind of a geek) and found out the magnetron was gone. Shortening the story: I bought a new magnetron from an online place and replaced it and it works fine. If you have someone replace your magnetron, see if you can get it for free-they have a long warranty on the magnetron ($150 part) and at 5 years, you probably qualify. Rich

Doesn't work

Sounds like your magnetron has failed and was going bad for some time.

I would contact Bosch to find their nearest authorized servicer.

If it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

If it's within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then your manufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

Failed to heat food

I'd say it's a loose connection at the magnetron, a bad magnetron, or a bad high voltage diode.

If it's less than 30 days old, I'd contact the dealer to exchange it for a new unit or a refund.

If it's over 30 days, but less than the full warranty period, I'd contact the manufacturer (see the owner's manual) to get in touch with your nearest local authorized servicer.

Hi, I have a big over-the-range GE microwave installed in my kitchen near my prep sink, not over a range. After I had it for 2 years, I received a letter from GE that there was a problem with the...

Microwaves usually have several years' warranty on the magnetron itself - such as 5 to 9 years!

I would call the GE Answer Center with your model and serial number and ask them how many years the magnetron is covered under warranty.

Also ask them for the numbers of a few local GE-authorized warranty service centers.

(GE Answer Center® 1-800-626-2005 Open Monday 6 a.m. ET through Saturday midnight ET)

If the mag is still covered, and you take it to a GE-authorized warranty service center, you'd not have to pay for the magnetron.

And taking it to the shop will indeed save you a lot of money.

If you decide to remove it from the wall, the installation instructions will be very handy to have. If you don't have them, you can find them online here.

Good luck and be safe!

3 year old unit, oven works, microwave does not

hi,

You may need a new magnetron, contact sharp or the store you got it from; most microwaves have a 3-5 year warranty on the magnetron. If it's not in warranty, find a good appliance repairman, this is a difficult and dangerous repair job.

GE JVM1650SH01 quits and asks to reset clock

Thanks musicmale -- i was gonna try the cpu board.. U saved me $$$

Just got off the phone with GE about my Jan 2005 model (not covered by the service bulletin above) They wouldn't cover the kit mentioned in the service bulletin (magnetron, stirrer and diode) but they did say the magnetron was under warranty ( even though the oven came with only 1 year warranty and its now 2 years old) They are sending me a new Magnetron for free but just in case I ordered a new Diode for $31 (WB27X1160) i din't order a new "stirrer" cuz mine is fine.
I'll let you all know if this works. in 3-5 business days.
