If your Phone service is recording messages, that disconnects your line. You need to have them turn that feature off, OR set the answering machine to answer is less rings, say two or three. If the FAX machine listens to the line, it can still be set at a higher amount of rings, say four, and should still answer any FAX signal as it's sent to the answering machine.

I can send a fax without any problem, but am not able to receive. I have set it to send after 3 rings, but the phone rings and then my answering machine comes on. I just turned my answering machine off. ...

Set the answering machine to answer incoming calls before the printer does. For example, if you set the answering machine to answer calls after three rings, set the printer to answer calls after five or six rings. Also, make sure the fax line is plugged into the Line port on the back of the printer and the fax settings are correct (phone number, pick-up on rings, etc).

Can't send or receive faxes

it's most likely the compression on the phone line or you need to set up your fax machine for proper receive mode.
Contact your phone service provider to see if they support faxes.
(Faxes cannot handle nearly as much compression as standard voice)

Fax is trying to answer my phone

Check the settings of your fax. You have to set it on which ring you wish it to answer. You can't fax without having a hard line phone plugged in. Also, you must have a filter on your fax line if you use DSL.

Incoming faxes not received, all else works.

Hi there,

It is your phone answering machine that must pick up in three rings or less.

Therefore 4 is too much. I would not limit number for fax machine itself.

On receipt of fax sometimes seems like it will not work when answering machine picks up in the middle. However, leave it and it will work. Sometimes sender will hear your answering machine and cancel as well. So try to ensure they don't give up at other end as well.

Good Luck!

How to receive faxes automatically

First this is a good machine, I use the same one and have my fax setup for the same thing. If you have a (TAD) Telephone Answering Device first you have to set up your phone to pick up before the fax, do this by setting the phone to pick up on three rings and the fax to pick up on four. Go to Menu/Fax/Setup Receive/Ring Delay. While there make sure Easy Receive is on. The machine itself will distinguish between regular calls and facsimiles and will display this info at the time of the call on its LCD screen, make sure you are using the line connection and not the phone connection. Hope this helped.

K80 all in one

Hi,
our problem is similar and we've posted it....We have one land line with fax over facility. The fax is assigned a different phone number to the telephone line. The fax number rings different to the telephone ring but both are 'two rings' and the fax machine cannot differenciate between the two and keeps answering the telephone. The k80 has a maximum of 6 rings before it answers and this is too few to allow us to get to the phne in time. Also we have an answering machine on the telephone line. How do we get the fax to answer only the ring from the fax over line?

is it the same prob? Cowboy has posted some suggestions.

Good luck
