Hello, 1) Here is how you back up your device. 2) Here is how you reload the software cleanly on the device. 3) Here is how you restore your data to the device if it is not backed up automatically.
I would attempt to pull the battery from the phone first. Wait about 1 minute or so then put it back in. This is hard reboot. It may take some time to come back up.
If that does not work you may need to backup and reinstall your OS.
If all else fails, you should contact your mobile carrier especially since its only a few months old.

i can not switch phone on to reload software. it needs to be on to connect to pc to be able to do this. Any other ideas? thanks for the quick reply.
I wish I could help more, but that's the only things I can think of. You may have water damage on your phone. I would not tell your carrier this though.
Since it's only a few months old, you should take it back to the store you purchased the phone or contact them over the phone. It should still be under warranty. You may have to send your phone into an authorized blackberry repair location.
