I have polycom SoindPoint 301 and i would like to use as SIP to one of the VoIP providers. I dont have asterisk in my network and i would like to connect it directly to the VoIP provider. So there is no boot server. The problem is that it keeps on rebooting, no reboot server, use existing configuration and error loading ......cfg How can i boot it so i can configure the SIP to connect to the voip provider, taking into consideration i dont have asterisk or trixbox or any boot server i can use.

Make sure that the subnet for the call manager is available over your VPN if you have locked the tunnel down. Also make sure that the IPC is allowed to bind to the VPN virtual network card.

Profile name: any
Service Profile: IETF
Default Access point: select your access point
Public user name: sip:[email protected]
Use compression: No
Registration: select your preference
Use security: No
Proxy server: empty/no settings
Registrar server:

> Realm: asterisk
> Username: voip-ext-no.
> Password: voip-password
> Transport type: Auto
> Port: 5060

Then go back to Connection > Internet Tel.
create profile and select the SIP settings you just created.

Since the 3cx softphone worked well, I don't see why you couldn't configure each as for 3cx and make them work as well.

On the phone, press the menu button, then status, then IP status or whatever and get the phone's IP address. Write the ip address down. On your computer, open up a web browser and input the phone's IP address into the address bar and press enter. This should arrive you at the web gui for that phone. It'll probably ask you for login credentials; by default, the name is "Polycom" (yes , it is case-sensetive) and the password is 456. Once you are logged in, you should see several links like "General" "Network" "Sip" and "Lines". click on Lines. under "line 1", you will see the configuration for that line. simply duplicate the entries for lines 2, 3, and 4.

maybe the signal is to weak for lock on.

I think you have to have the upgraded cable modem with the rj11 on the back in order to pull the voip dialtone. Hope this helps

Make sure you have the latest BootROM and SIP config files for this polycom(sip.ld, sip.cfg, etc...) on your TFTP server. If you do not have this - download from here - http://www.polycom.com/support/voice/soundpoint_ip/soundpoint_ip501.html
