High level buzzing

My Station str8-100 started emitting a high level buzz to point that its clipping. Did my tone arm go? What is this?

  • orb1tal Feb 13, 2009

I have the same problem. Sounds like its clipping and seems to happen only with loud pieces of vinyl. certainly as if the gain is too high. I have tried changing the rca's, and the stylis. This had made no difference. I cant imagine what's inside the tone arm that could cause this?

Only the following 3 things could cause this:

1) Tonearm
2) RCA Cables / RCA connectors
3) Cartridge/Styli

Make sure your ground cable is also connected.

I have had a rather disoncerting lw level buzzing

I had the same after about 15 months. It seems to happen when charging the iPOD. I took it back to John Lewis, it was returned to B&W and came back repaired 8 working days later. I was very pleased with the service. As an added bonus B&W restarted the 2 yr guarantee.

ION iTTUSB turntable has buzzing sound when I record

It sounds like you have a bad ground on the tone arm. It's probably time to replace the tone arm wiring, or the external connecting cables.

Subwoofer Emits a Buzzing Tone

The 2200 uF capacitor in the power supply has gone bad and the humming is a 60 Hz from the rectification of AC to 18 vDC.  Either get a new power supply or take apart the power supply and replace the bad cap.

Buzzing tone. Can barely hear caller's voice because of the buzz

Two things to look at:

First, check the base station isn't too close to some interfering item of electronic equipment - try moving it to see if the problem diminishes.

Second, unplug the cordless phone and put a traditional corded phone in instead (if you don't have one lying around, it would be a wise investment to get one, otherwise you'll be without a phone service if your power goes out). If the buzz is still there, the problem lies with your line rather than with the phone (and that's the TelCo's problem, not yours).

Audio fuzzy or cuts out

Could have a loose connection in the audio section or a problem with the output IC . Also does this happen on the RF input and your A/V inputs or just one of these. If its the A/V inputs only your having this problem check your cables .
