My Lenovo laptop won't recognize my seagate desktop 2TB external hard drive. Got any ideas? The laptop will recognize the seagate 500mb drive I have but not the 2TB one.

OK, I moved to the second usb port and it worked just fine. I guess it was the port I was using.

Can you see it under "Device Manager" or "Disk Management"?
To get to device manager and disk management click "Start"-> Type in "management" in the little white bar at the bottom and click "Computer Management".

Hi I have a 3tb ext harddrive - the led is flashing and my computer won't read the drive files

A single MBR physical drive is limited to 2TB in Windows. This is a common setup. You will need to break down and partition the drive in order to use it.

I have the exact same drive. If off-the-shelf cables are not working (which is odd) I would suggest buying a USB 3.0 extender. This will extend it about 3 feet. You can purchase them for <$5 online! Let me know if this helped out any.

I am looking for a manual for FreeAgent GoFlex Desk USB 3.0. I have no idea how it works. It doesn't need fixing, I need to know how to do various tasks.

Here's a link for all the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex external hard drives support page: http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US&name=goflex-support&vgnextoid=884623db95b07210VgnVCM1000001a48090aRCRD

I would suggest finding the quick start guide for your external hard drive and reading that first.

Thanks for using FixYa; please post back if you have any problems and I will help you further.
