Hi, I have a JVC Everio GZ-MG21U and I am trying to format an SD Card, but each time it says MEMORY CARD ERROR! I have tried 2 diff cards, a 16GB and a brand new out of package 4GB. Please advies

Make sure you're using an SD card, not a higher-capacity SDHC card. The GZ-MG21U works with SD cards, not with SDHC cards.

The GZ-MG57 works with SD cards. Your 16GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work in devices not designed to work with SDHC cards. You need to stay with SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Make sure that the card is not locked. There is a little switch that slides on the card to write protect information on it from accidental deletion. If the card is not locked, it may need to be formatted. I'm not sure if your particular camcorder has that ability or not. If not use a card reader on a computer to format it. It may be possible that your camcorder will not accept an SDHC card. It may only take a SD memory card. The HC stands for high capacity and it may not be compatible, so you may need an SD memory card not the SDHC one. I hope this helps and good luck!

first u connect to computer via usb then format it ( try to format with camera first) then preset ur camera by menu option then ur camera will be ok

nope. The largest it'll take is 2GB SDIO-compliant SD flash media. SDHC is right out of the window with this model.

Check the user manual and the JVC website for a new firmware.

did you delete all card files on your pc?
if so, camera will not function properly. Try formating the cf card on your computer and format it again inside JVC camera,
try inserting a normal cf card(should work) in order to find if you have a faulty cf card
