Assuming you have a MIDI interface on your computer, you need to connect the MIDI cables between the keyboard and the PC. You cross connect, that is, in to out and vice versa. You will ALSO need the driver software for the interface in the PC AND most importantly, some software in the PC to handle the MIDI for instance to record.

Yamaha YPT 400: ALL re are not working

Hi, If by "re" not working you mean note D then try the following.
Keyboard off, hold down top C key while turning on. This factory resets. Does D key now work - if not. Has it ever worked - if not then it could possibly be the ribbon connector between the keyboard and the motherboard. If one of the cables gets bent then this would stop all notes associated with that connection to stop working. This will only have occured if the keyboard has never played these notes or if it has been taken apart.

You could also try the self test mode : Keyboard off, hold C#,F, G# in the 2nd octave up whilst turning on, cycle through tests to sound if it plays all the notes one at a time then the sound chip is ok and it points to keyboard switching. If test mode does not come up in 2nd octave try 3rd octave ( cant remember which one it is from memory )

Let me know how you get on.

When I turn my yamaha YPT-320 on the panel lights up for 2 seconds then turns of any ideas

MY guess would be one of 2 things.

1) Power adapter faulty
2) Socket where adapter plugs in has a bad solder joint.

Turn on the keyboard and push the plug on the back of the keyboard up ( hold in upright position ) if it doesn't shut down / or alternatively doesn't work investigate solder connections to pcb for the socket. They often fail and break the track on the pcb. Repair as needed

I was hoping to find a free download for a yamaha-ypt-300 keyboard but no luck

Try to search for XG midisongs and karaoke files (song extentions should be .mid and .kar) on the Internet. There are lots of free songs out there!

I have the yamaha dtexpress and a midifase conect but cant get anny sound to the computer??????????????

try a midi loopback device or a viruual midi cable such as sonys virtual midi cable: http://www.johnrofrano.com/tutorials/virtualmidirouter.htm

i dont know if this one will work, you could also search for loopb1 and hubi's midi loopback device, one of these should work.

what you have to do is use one of these programs, or something similar, to connect your midi input to the soundcard's midi wavetable or to your midi/synth/sequencing software's midi input.

also, the drum machine should be set to output to midi channel 10. make sure that your software is set to recieve on midi channel 10, if applicable.

I want to connect my YAMAHA DTXPRESS IV SPECIAL to my PC

Any pro-audio interface with a midi input would do the trick. There are numerous products out there that offer this. You can get a simple usb midi interface, and connect the Yamaha up with a midi cable running from the midi out of the drum module to the nidi in of the interface.

one of the simpler ones:...
