I have a lexmark x6570. I have att uverse phone/internet/tv. I have always been able to send/receive faxes. Now i can receive a fax, but cannot send one. When I do, the transmission report says "remote fax error". ATT support is NO help. Can you help ??

Are you sure that the fax is compatiable with UVerse software,you can goto to the UVerse website and trouble-shoot compatiablity.

To send a fax using the printer operator panel, load the original document on the scanner bed or in the document feeder > press the Fax mode > enter the fax number > press Start Color/Black. The Uverse service appears to be all digital - so any voice/phone channels are going to be VOIP....not real analog lines as you had before. So, you need to connect the HP fax to a phone line service. Did ATT provide you a phone number? (or perhaps 2 phone numbers) Then the fax should be connected to that line. If you are unsure, then connect a phone to the provided line and listen for dial tone. If you are connecting a fax to a VOIP line then a good suggestion is to drop the fax speed to 9600....this will provide more reliable connections. Hope this helps

Fax machines are ANALOG devices and will not work reliably on DIGITAL phone lines

on a lexmark if someone send you a fax ,first the machine has to be in fax mode ,then when the phone start ringing you have to press the start button or #9 button

No, you don't need to buy an adapter, just one more phone cord. You already have the splitter, so run one phone cord from the splitter to the printer. You'll see there is a line in and out. Run the out to your phone. Voila. You should be all connected.
