Hello
Check the remote contro for its infrared emission. You can check it with a cellphone with camera option. Put the cellphone to camera mode, and place the remotes' front end towards its lens, at about one feet away from it, and press each button on the remote control. If there is infrared emission from it, you can see its image on cellphone camera screen. If not check the remote control. Check the battery polarity. If it is alright, you have to open it to see whether there is any loose soldering points developed or not.
If ther is infrared emission from the remote, and still the TV doesn't respond to it, surely the infrared sensor inside the TV is faulty, and should be replaced with same type and number. OK.

Just bought Topfield TRF2100, screen on and says"installation", but remote won't work.

Be sure there are fresh batteries in the remote. Be sure they are installed correctly and that there is nothing covering the remote's battery contacts. Look to see if there is a film covering the remote's infrared lens or the receiving unit's eye. Check your manual to see if you need to program the remote to the unit. if it's a multi-unit remote, be sure that you have set it to control the specific unit you're working with.

Remote not working

If you recently changed batteries, remove the batteries and make absolutely sure that they are connected properly. The + and - ends of the batteries must be correct. This is the #1 reason remotes stop working.

I am an Electronics Engineering Technician and have, through inattention, put one or more batteries in backwards. And I was SURE I put them in correctly. :>)

The second most common failure is that the remote has been dropped so many times that the battery contacts no longer make firm contact with the batteries. You can usually gently bend them outward to fix this.

Another common problem is the Infrared LED in the remote fails. Only a Tech can fix this.

My remote control eats batteries

I replaced the battery in a VW key fob with an exact match of the dead battery I found in it. The fob worked again but the new battery lasted only 1 day. I checked the manual and discovered that the wrong battery had been installed by the previous owner and I had repeated that mistake. I installed the correct battery and it has worked fine ever since. I suggest that you double check to be sure you are installing the correct replacement batteries.

My remote will not work. never has and i bought it brand new.

Check and make sure the battery is installed in the remote. If it is installed, check for the correct installation. If this is correct, replace the battery. If it still doesn't work, you might have a faulty remote.

Volume does not work on television

Check the batteries.
If you have a digital camera, camcorder or camera phone, turn it on and point the remote at the camera lens. Press the volume buttons on the remote. You should see a flash on the camera lcd screen. If not the buttons on the remote are not working.
Check the buttons on the side/top of the tv to make sure the tv volume is working.
If the remote is dead, sometimes doing the following steps may restore it.
Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.
Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!
Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.
(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!)
Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly.
New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.
Step 5- Try the remote.

Remote want work on tv

Hi,

Make sure that you're using the supplied Remote (RMY-906) to control the TV. If so, perform the steps given below to resolve the issue.

  • Make sure that you're using batteries which are having enough charge. Try using fresh alkaline batteries.
  • Do not use rechargeable batteries in the Remote.
  • Ensure that the batteries are inserted correctly with the correct terminals by checking the + and - symbol in the battery compartment.
  • Make sure that the Remote is set to operate with the correct functions. On the remote control, press the TV FUNCTION button to re-check this.
  • Press the POWER button and other buttons to test the operation.
  • Make sure that none of the buttons are jammed in the remote control.
  • Ensure that the remote control is being used no closer than 3 feet and no further than 10 feet away from the unit. Try using the remote control at varying distances from the TV.
  • When using the remote control, be sure to point it directly at the remote sensor on the device.
  • Remove any obstacles that may be in the path between the remote control and the device.
  • Ensure the remote sensor of the device is not exposed to direct sunlight or bright florescent lights, as this can interfere with the sensors ability to receive signals from the remote control.
  • Try resetting the Remote. To reset the Remote. remove the batteries from the remote control, press every button twice, and then reinstall the batteries.
  • Try resetting the TV also to check the operation. To reset the TV, disconnect the power cord for a short period of time (approximately 1 minute), then reconnect the power cord and power on the television.

If the remote control is able to operate other devices (such as cable box, DVD Player or satellite receiver), then the issue may be with the IR sensor on the TV. If this is the case then the TV that will require service. Otherwise, the remote control may need replaced.

Good Luck!

New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.
If you are still having problems, you may have to replace the remote.
