Defective squirrel cage fan

I have a m7dh45b2a. plastic squirrel cage fan split and caught onthe cage ruined the fan and fan motor this is only 6mos. running time how do I get it fixed ?

  • Anonymous Aug 15, 2008

One of two model M7DH45B2A Maytag 45 PINT Dehumidifiers I own did this within 1 year of operation. The blades shattered, a couple exiting the dehumidifier but most staying inside the dehumidifier. The motor was stopped when it was jammed with the fins. It is unknown how long the dehumidifier was like this, but it is probable that the motor may be burned out because of it.

Location of Maytag M7DH45B2A motor fuse

I'm fixing one of these too. Take the top off (follow the AC cord) and the fuse is on the PCB.

I am also looking for a better wiring diagram - the control panel on mine does not light up.

Dehumidifier Maytag M7DH45B2A Fan Motor

Hi,
It gets a little tricky from here! If it were mine, and with my experience - I would try to measure for power going to the motor, but that may involve more dismantling. Dangerous voltages are likely to be present so don't attempt this if you are not qualified to do so! If there is power going to it, then logically the motor is defective. If there isn't , then it points to the control circuitry. In the former case a new motor might get you going again - if you can find one; if there is no power going to it then the fault lies elsewhere. If you are very lucky it might just be a dead relay on the pcb. Beyond that point I have learned over the years that some things are just not designed to be fixable :-( The pcb may have been made years ago in a factory on the other side of the world and we consumers are just expected to go out and consume a new one dehumidifier.

Hope this helps a little bit. D

Maytag M7DH45B2A - Fan Motor

Hi,
The fan motors do occasionally get clogged up with fluff - especially if the machine has been operated without the filter screen installed. Also it is possible that some foreign object has fallen into the motor and is jamming it.

With the power off, check to see if the blower will turn when poked with a long plastic pointy thing :-)

If these suggestions do help you solve the problem, please give my reply a rating to help others judge my knowledge / guessing skills.
If they do not, please hold off on the rating and add a comment with more details so I can try to help you further. Cheers, D

The fan fell apart on my M7DH45B2A and I was wondering how to find a part number for the fan to order a new one.

ApplianceFactoryparts.com has the replacement part for the "squirrel cage" for the motor or "fan". Use the Model number to find the parts.
