Sounds like you have short circuited your Motherboard badly. This will generally cause laptops to quit functioning at all. Get it replaced. Really is the only option.

I doubt there is battery problem, have you tried switching on laptop without battery and connecting through the laptop charger? most probable your battery is not taking the charge. so suggest you to disconnect the battery and try using laptop with charger then you'll find the problem.
It shows no power on your laptop but it shows you the dvd player led comes on then off. I would suggest try the following:
1. Remove laptop battery, optical drive, hard drive and ram. Remove external peripherals as well.2. Make sure AC Adapter is not yet connected to the laptop. Press and hold on the laptop's power button for 10 seconds to drain the power flea.3. Connect the AC Adapter to a known good power outlet, check AC Adapter power LED if it is on. Try to sense if AC Adapter is not making a bit of noise when it is plugin to the wall power outlet.4. Connect now the AC Adapter to the laptop. Check if AC Adapter LED stays on when it is connected to the laptop. If the LED stays on means the AC Adapter is fine. If the AC Adapter LED turned off check the AC Adapter pin that goes to the laptop AC socket if it is loose.5. If AC Adapter stays on after connecting to the laptop try to power on laptop. If no power LED comes on then this is motherboard problem. 6. Before replacing the motherboard there is one checking needs to do. If you can open your laptop bottom part then good, do this when laptop is not connected to any power source. Try to reseat the laptop CMOS battery then try to power on laptop after, if still fails then replace motherboard. I hope this helps.
remove all external peripherals.
remove laptop battery.
remove ac adapter.
plug ac adapter to wall power socket without the laptop connected check if the ac adapter led will stays on. if yes then connect it to the laptop and check if the ac adapter led turns off. if yes motherboard laptop has problems and need to be replaced.
if ac adapter led stays off without connecting laptop, try different wall power socket, if still ac adapter led is off then replace the ac adapter.
if ac adapter has light stays on then connected to laptop but laptop cannot even power up even the ac adapter led is on then laptop motherboard needs to be replace.
Unplug your battery and then plug in AC adaptor and see if laptop powers on. I assume you power button doesnt turn on at all? If so, your motherboard seems to have a power issue. Unfortunately, you have to replace motherboard. If laptop. powers on withour battery then you then battery needs replacement.

When you say charge light, was that the battery led light that you were referring to or the power button?
If it is the battery led light, try this:
Try to power on your laptop without the battery in your laptop.
take out the battery and just use the ac adapter, if it works fine then there could be a problem with your battery.
If is the power button that is flashing orange, then try to power cycle laptop.
turn off laptop.
take out the battery and the ac adapter.
then while those are out, you hold down power button for atleast 10-15 seconds.
put back the power source and check the led again.
Ok... that makes a little more sense... Here is what i want you to check... Disconnect the AC Adapter from the system and plug it into the mains, check the LED light (Should be Green). Then plug in the connector to the laptop, check the LED. If the LED turns off when you connect the laptop. Your Laptop motherboard needs to be changed.
Possibley it could be some internal parts. Please try run the onboard diagnostics by holding down Fn and the power button. Make a note of the 3 lights above the keyboard (9,A and the lock key). If it starts for a second and then shut's down, the MoBo will ahve to be replaced. 1501 has known issue and I know this as I work for DELL tech support. Call tech support or chat with them...If the product is under warranty, you should get a replacement.
