Hi

Did you printer jammed when printing? If yes, check for paper jams in the paper tray, from the cartridge compartment and from the access door (back of the printer if accessible or can be open) and clean the paper jammed.

If the problem is regard ink cartridge, remove and rub the ink head into a plain paper until ink flows. Then try to print again.

If ink cartridge error problem, try to install and reinstall it again.

Try also hard reset the printer.
1.Shut down the computer.
2.Open the top cover of the printer and remove the print cartridges.
3.Close the top cover of the printer.
4.Press the power button on the printer to turn the printer off.
5.Disconnect the communications, (USB or Parallel), cable from the back of the printer.
6.Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer for one minute.
7.Reconnect the communications cable to the printer.
8.Reconnect the power cable to the printer.
9.Press the printer power button to turn the printer on.
10.Open the top cover and reinsert the print cartridges.
11.Close the top cover and print the calibration page.
12.Restart the computer.

Please post more comment if you need more help. Regards.

    Please try this solution.

Remove the USB cable into the printer and leave the printer on.
    Remove all the cartridges.
Close the cartridge door and wait for the INSERT INK MESSAGE to appear.
Disconnect the power cable and from the power source supply. Wait for a couple of minutes.
Reconnect power cord and turn on the printer.
Return all the ink cartridges and close the door. Wait for the calibration process.
Print the test page to check if it working.
Reconnect the USB cable and try to print again.

Disconnect the unit from the computer, remove the power as well. Let it sit for 1 minute then power the unit back on. Don't connect to the computer. Does it still blink the same?

  • Anonymous Mar 24, 2011

    Try this:

    1. Turn the printer's "Power" off
    2. Press and hold the "Paper Feed" (gray) button.
    3. While holding the "Paper Feed" button down turn the "Power" button on and hold both buttons until the power light comes on 5-7 seconds.
    4. Release both "Power" and "Paper Feed" buttons.
    5. The printer should feed a sheet of paper in and print a test page.
The self-test should at least print out a set of either black or color bars, if not both (if you have a printer with both color and black installed simultaneously).

    Try this version instead.

    1. Power the printer off.
    2. Press and hold the "Paper Feed" button.
    3. While still holding the "Paper Feed" button, press and release the "Power" button. Continue holding the "Paper Feed" button.
    4. When the printer starts pulling paper, release the "Paper Feed" button. It should print a test page at this point.
    5. Power the printer off, as this test is continuous.

I can't get my printer to work, and I can't find the disk to reload the info. It is a lexmark x1240. thanks Misty

Your driver can be downloaded here, directly from Lexmark:

http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?lxkprod=Lexmark+X1240

Choose your operating system from the list, and download.

Be sure to unplug the printer from the PC before installing the software. Only plug it in once the on-screen instructions tell you to do so.
