Hi lionking2022!

Since this is a USB CD_ROM, you need change some settings in the bios for it to be detected and the system will actually boot from it.

1. You enter your BIOS

2. Look for the tab that will contain IDE settings

3. Change it to AHCI

4. Save and Exit

You may know try to boot from cd-rom and install your windows xp.

After the setup or installation is finished don't forget to changed it back to SATA or whatever the setting was.

Hope this will help.

Thank you for using Fixya,

Re install your OS as there is no way in.HOW

You need to create a bootable usb drive. depending on what Operating System you want to install, you can easily find how to do that by googling "How to create a bootable usb drive for <your os>"

your OS could be windows xp, windows 7, windows 8, ubuntu, linux mint, manjaro, or any other OS you use for that matter.

You will find several ways to do it and not all of them will work for you. You may have to try about 4 or 5 different ways to do it before you strike one that works for you.

How to install windows xp

To install Windows XP :

Required items
1: Windows XP CD ( SP 1/2/3 )/ Windows XP setup in a USB drive ( please ensure that you have made the USB bootable or it won't be detected )
2: CD Rom Drive ( if you want to install by CD )
3: USB Drive ( if you want to install by USB )

For a fresh install , follow the following steps accordingly :

1: Insert the CD into the Drive and restart the PC.
2: Note that your boot settings in the bios settings are correct (i.e 1st Boot priority CD drive if you are installing with CD and 1st boot priority USB if you are installing with Pendrive ).

3: Follow the steps shown on the screen which will throw a couple of options and settings.

4: Click on ' Install a fresh copy of Windows ' when asked for.
5: Select the drive in which you want to install it , it will be formatted and new windows installation would take place in that same drive.
6: Set your date and time region , enter the serial key when asked for.
7: The whole process should take around 45 minutes.

You are done installing it..Congrats!

Kindly note that installing any version of Windows by USB is always quicker than installing by CD/DVD.

When i insert cd containing widows xp to install it on note book, acer aspire 5315, it says bootmgr is missing. How can i install window xp now?

It may be that the CD is defective already or you are doing it wrong. Try to look for another CD.

To install a fresh copy of Windows XP you need to boot from the CD.
1. Turn your computer on and tap on F12 continuously until you get the One time boot menu. 2. Choose Onboard or USB CD Rom drive. 3. Follow the prompts of the link below:
