For a video file to be played, the device you're playing it on must have the proper codecs for playback.
With computers you can add codecs as you need them; unfortunately, on consoles the codecs that are supplied are typically your only choices.

Fortunately, you can work around the supported format limitation by streaming your media to your console from your computer. Here's some streaming software:
