You need to assign a digital input (optical 1 2 or coaxial 1 2..) to a source (DVD CD etc). You can do it in setup menu > input assigment. Some receivers have preassigned inputs, check labels you your receiver next to digital input. Ex If it says "Opt1/DVD", select DVD and receiver will play a signal from optical 1 input.
That's really cute that you're willing to play with your boyfriend. Theres lots of things to learn with Black Ops. First you need to learn the controls and if you play normal or inverted. Most gametypes revolve around killing the enemy team or taking control of an objective which you will learn with time. check out the system req. of the said game. probably your laptop didnt meet the recomended system req. of the game. this happens when not enough memory from your system or your video card.
