This site has your product manual for your dispenser but it is very vague on trouble shooting the cooling system.
In general, the compressor is controlled by a thermostat that is usually located in the conditioned space. It cycles the compressor on and off based on the sensed temperature and the setting that it is adjusted to.
So, let's talk in general refrigeration terms. Where the compressor is located, is there a fan? If so, is it running? That fan is usually the condenser fan and is wired to come on anytime the compressor is supposed to be running. If the fan is running and the compressor is not, then there is an issue with the compressor. If the fan is not running and the compressor is not running, then there is an issue with either power or the thermostat. If the compressor is running and the fan is not, then there is an issue with the fan.
This is a good starting point. Let me know if I can be of further help.

Kegerator. Is the compressor shot?

It's possible that the compressor in your kegerator is shot and will need to be replaced. However, there are a few other things you can check before determining that the compressor is the issue.
  1. Check the power supply: Make sure the kegerator is properly plugged in and that the outlet has power.
  2. Check the thermostat: Ensure that the thermostat is set to the appropriate temperature. If it is set too high, the compressor will not turn on.
  3. Check the compressor overload protector: The overload protector may have tripped, check to see if it is tripped and reset it if necessary.
  4. Check the compressor's capacitors: They could be damaged and need replacing.
  5. Check the evaporator fan motor: If the evaporator fan motor is not functioning properly, it could cause the compressor not to turn on.
  6. Check the 3 in 1 starter: Make sure the 3 in 1 starter is working properly, it could be defective.
  7. Check the wiring: Make sure all the wiring is properly connected and not loose.
If you have tried all above steps and the problem persists, it may be best to contact a professional or the manufacturer for further assistance. It could be the compressor, but it's better to confirm that before replacing it, as it's a costly repair.

TDD 2 Kegerator clicking and not cooling?

It's extremely rare that the compressor will be any good. Usually replacing the start relay does nothing on these small units. If you know how to use a multi-meter and are any good at wiring the cheapest way to go is to get what is called a 3-in-1 start kit at a HVAC wholesaler. You need to know the model of the compressor and/or the horsepower to get the right one. I would recommend getting a service tech to look it over though. Most likely the compressor is locked up.

Whirlpool model GC3SHEXNS - was in a flood in my house appx. 20" - light comes on in fridge but nothing else happens when I plug it in - just wondering if it's worth having serviced?

Hi!
A relay starts the compressor with a higher voltage and then quickly kicks out
It does a lot of clicking (trying to start over and over again)
If thats what is happening with yours
Its best for a tech to replace The relay but you can do it
Take your model number to your Local Appliance parts store they will have a diagram
showing you how to install the relay. Its called a hard start relay
I use part no ERP410 POWER START RELAY, CAPACITOR AND OVERLOAD all in one. (110 v)

Do you have any technical background? There is a simple and sure fix to this but you will need to be able to read a wiring diagram and have basic electrical tools like a wire stripper and electrical tape.

My kegerator recently stopped cooling. When I plug it in the fan starts up and then compressor starts for a second and there is a clicking noise and it turns off. I replaced the relay and start/run...

The overload relay is the likely problem. See if it is burnt looking or if it rattles when you shake it. Or just replace it. It's not expensive. If that's not the problem then it's the compressor.

I'm getting a wierd sound coming from my JBL2088HES refrigerator. It is a buzz like an electric shaver followed by a click. It seems to happen in 3 min intervals. Any Idea what it could be?

Kevin,

It sounds like it could be the compressor overload relay or the compressor itself. Lets hope that it is the overload relay, most compressor replacements are very expensive.

The overload/relay isn't very expensive and replacing it will be cheaper than calling a repair tech to tell you if it is the compressor or the overload/relay.

This is a relatively simple repair, if you look at your compressor you will find two wires connected to a small box ( overload/relay )
To remove the overload first you must remove the metal retainer by unhooking it with a pair of needle nose pliers.
Now remove the overload relay by pulling it away from the compressor.

The relay for your refrigerator has a capacitor connected to it, the capacitor and the relay are sold as one piece part # 67005560.

all that you have to do is remove the old relay with the capacitor from the wires by pulling the plug off and connecting the new overload/relay/capacitor to it, reinstall the relay to the compressor and you are done.

Good Luck

Yes replacing the relay may fix the problem. You want to replace all the start parts. Overload, relay, and capacitor if one is present. Your unit is probably 1/3 horse power or less. You may be able to install a universal 3N1 starter from Supco, rated at 1/4 -1/3 H.P. If new start gear does not fix the problem you may need a new compressor.

I hear buzzing sound and a click like a switch when the compressure turns on.

Then you will need to get that fixed. Sounds to me that your start relay and start capacitor are not making good start connection and the overload is clicking out. If you don't fix this problem soon the compressor may be damaged. I need to know if your model is the MSD2756G or a different model. Let me know..Sea Breeze
