Get an install disk for the operating system you wish to install (Make sure your computer is able to handle that operating system first), then put the disk in and boot to the disk. If your computer is not set up to boot to disk first then you will have to go into the BIOS, usually F2 of F12 on boot (whatever says press to enter setup), then change the boot settings from there.

Once you are inside the installer for that Operating System, it will give you an option to erase the hard drive you are wanting to install the operating system on, and restart new. Just so you are aware, this will reformat and ERASE EVERYTHING on that hard drive, so make sure that you have anything you want saved backed up somewhere else.

Once that is done, continue installing the operating system and then your hard drive will be erased, and the operating system will be reinstalled.

If you were just looking to erase a hard drive, then you can go to my computer, then right-click the hard drive you want to erase, then click format. THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTHING!

Hope this helps!

I forgot my IBM T30 password and windows can't open

The hard drive is either dead or is loose. You can take it out and put it back in. If you hear clicking when you turn it on it is most likely the hard drive.

IBM T30 Start-up HD options

Why do you what to boot up from the 2nd hard drive?
If you want to boot up with a different operating system from a 2nd drive, I suggest you set up a dual boot system with the other operating system on the 2nd drive.
When you boot up you will be given a menu and you can choose which operating system you want. There is a time delay and if you don't choose a system it will default to the first operating system on the list.

IBM ThinkPad T30 2367

I bet your hard drive crashed on you. You might have to buy yourself a new hard drive and replace your old one with it. Then format it and install a fresh copy of your Operating System on it. Your error condes here indicate to me that you either got a blue screen or similar. Blue Screens and/or the code that you stated here are usually caused by a software issue, and are rarely hardware issues. But in this case, you may have gotten something bad on your computer, such as a virus or serious spyware, that wiped out your Operating System And caused your hard drive to crash/become corrupt. As I mentioned, try replacing your hard drive. Hope this helps.

My IBM Think Pad T30 showin working on AC with out powering..

If it's not finding the operating system, and you'va ran the recovery cd, then the problem is going to be that the hard drive has failed and will need replaced. In order to double check and make sure it's the hard drive, run the recovery or operating system disc, and reformat the hard drive. If the hard drive will not format, then it's bad.

T30 2366 not recovering from original recovery disk

The 2 gig partition is probably your recovery partition that allows you to restore your computer from the hard drive instead of the Operating System discs that came with the unit. You don't really want to mess with your partitions (you may accidently delete all your data). I'd recommend using Acronis True Image and backing your data to an external hard drive first, you can copy individual folders or the entire hard drive. Then you can just destructive restore your entire hard drive back to factory settings.

Hard Drive Replacement T30

Hey there jlricker, in order to accomplish your task you need an external drive, with the ability to do full copy, from another drive installed in your computer. One such option is EZ Upgrade Kit. It includes the external drive case and data copying software. You can use the case and old hard drive as a regular external when you are done. Good Luck!
