Hello, if you are getting 24 volts to the solenoid valve and it is not working replace it. However, if you are not getting 24 volts check the humidistat, transformer, and wiring.

Humidifier doesn't work

Hello, if there is water to the solenoid valve but not passing through it than the solenoid valve is malfunctioning and must be replaced. However, if there is no water at the solenoid valve then either the saddle valve or supply line is clogged with sediment. A easy way to chek the solenoid valve is apply power directy to the solenoid valve from the transformer, if it does not open then replace it.

How do you test a solenoid valve ?

Hello, I like to apply voltage directly to the solenoid valve to see if is working. Just take the two wires from transformer and connect to solenoid valve, if the valve clicks and water starts flowing the valve is good

The solenoid for Model 600 was installed upside down--the inlet is closest to the floor. Is this OK? Also no in-line strainer. I confirmed water to the solenoid, but in Test mode w/ feeder tube...

The solenoid valve unit will work upside down however, I am concerned that the tech that installed the unit might have installed it backwards. Look on the side of the valve the solenoid is connected to and you should find an arrow. Thats the direction of the water flow.A strainer helps keep the valve clean however if there is dirt in the valve it would be stuck opened not closed. Make sure the solenoid is getting power via float valve. If the solenoid is getting power you can tell by touching the top of the solenoid with a metal non magnetic screw driver. It will pull the screw driver like a magnet. Good luck

I installed a new Aprilaire 700 and everything looks normal except there isn't ant water flow, I am not sure if this is the solenoid or transformer problems?

Check if you are getting 24 volts at the transformer, if you are then appy power directly to the solenoid valve from transformer, you should here the solenoid valve click and let water through. If not replace the solenoid valve. If the valve works by giving power directly from transformer the check the wiring, humidistat, and current sensing relay/sail switch.

My aprilaire humidifier model 500 series does not seem to kick in. I try moving the manual control when the furnace kicks in but even turning the control to the max nothing happens

Check to see if you are getting 24 volts at the transformer, if you are then bring the power directly from the transformer to the solenoid valve and see if the solenoid valve clicks open by moving the knob on the humidistat. If nothing happens then most likely the solenoid valve is bad and needs to be replaced. If the solenoid valve does work after bringing power directly to it then either tne problem is the humidistat it self or the sail switch/current sensing relay.

Water runs to the solenoid, but doesntt pass through it... Do I need a new solenoid?

Check to see if you are getting 24 volts to the solenoid valve, if you are but the solenoid valve does not click open then the valve is most likely bad. Another thing you can do is apply 24 volts directly to the solenoid valve from the transformer if it does not open then the vlave is bad.

Humidistat know set to on. Water pressure to

Have you checked to see if the solenoid opens and closes? You should hear a distinct click when the solenoid valve energizes. Depending on the quality of the water in your area, it's possible that the valve is scaled up....again and plugged. If the valve operates, you can usually clean it with a product called CLR which dissolves scale (lime buildup). This will require removal and disassembly of the valve. Please be sure to turn off the power before working on the unit.
Some solenoid valves are equipped with an inlet screen that could also be plugged with scale or debris.

Aprilaire 760 won't start

No. when you remove the front cover it will automatically disconnect the power supply. Try changing the water panel and cleaning out the orifice and filter screens located in the water lines connected to the solenoid valve.

Solenoid on Aprilaire 600

solenoid valves dont just burn up just like that you have a recurring restriction due to bad water.Check the saddle valve at the water heater first then check for postive water flow at inlet to the solenoid valve,if you have water flow the valve is clogged with sediment.
