The problem is not the battery pack. It is in the electronic over current circuit that prevents a possible overheating of the battery pack. My unit will run for 10 - 15 seconds and then shuts off. The over current sensor is reset by moving the power switch to the "OFF" position. If you turn the vacuum back on it will run for a few more seconds before shutting off again. There is a small circuit board in the vacuum that contains the over current protection circuit. It uses an NXP Semiconductor HEF4001BP quad 2-input NOR gate. If you are good at soldering you might try replacing this chip. Otherwise, buy a new vacuum. The problem is not in the thermal circuit breaker located in the handle. I have bypassed the breaker and the problem still occurs.

SOURCE: My Eureka Easy Clean 2 in 1 model 109 cordless

first you would check the cord to assure there are no cuts or damage to the cord this can cause this situation as well as where the cord goes into the unit having been pulled by the cord would also cause this same situation following this you would then follow to where the cord goes into the machine and check the terminal connections to the motor itself as well this is basicly a power issue and you would resolve that issue by finding which piece is where the power stops if you were to take a voltage meter and measure the amount of current going into the motor if the motor has none then you know that your problem is before the motor and most likely in the cord if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank this opinion it allows me to help others in similar situations in the future. Also if the unit is still under the 1 year warranty on this unit do not attempt to repair you would void your warranty if you did. Instead contact either the place you bought the unit or message me back and I can look this information of how to contact the manufacturer Thanks again for using fixya

I bought a cordless Dyson, three days ago. I have charged it three times. It states that this model has a twenty minute running time. This one runs less than 10 minutes. JU6-US-HEA1415A

If after a few more discharge, charge cycles unit still underperforms then return for exchange or money back. Newer batteries have to be "exercised" a tad before they perform up to specs. And if they say 20 minutes, then hold them to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vacuum is not picking up dirt, dog hair, and lint! After 30 minutes use and I shut off machine it will not turn back on - machine is hot!

Blocked hose, filters, broken belt (If fitted) safety over temp device has operated turning the machine off. If it turns back on when it cools down, that gives you the answer. The motor could possibly be faulty as well.

My Roomba Model 440 runs for about 2 minutes and stops. I can start it up again after which it repeats stopping after not quite 2 minutes. It is perfectly clean and charged. What is the problem?

Most likely your NiCad battery is at the end of it's life and needs replacement. The packs in Roombas are made up of a group of individual cells and what often happens as they age is that a single cell will fail, causing the entire pack to provide less than usable voltage. The Roomba will attempt to operate and then sensing low voltage, it will shut down.

To prevent reduced battery life in the future with your new pack, always keep your Roomba charged as storing a NiCad pack in a discharged state will cause the build up of salts within the pack, damaging the cells.

Replacement is simple and packs are around $40 bucks online, all you need is a small Phillips screwdriver and about 5 minutes.

I have a euralab robot vacuum and it is only lasting about 5 minutes before it runs out of power. I have had it for about 2 weeks and it worked well at first

I can't guarantee that this will solve the problem, but try deep cycling the battery.
Run the robot until it stops completely and uses all of the battery charge.
Charge the battery until fully charged. Let the battery cool for 6 hours.
Repeat and see if the battery life improves.
Repeat this charge/cool/discharge cycle 3 to 4 times.

My dyson DC16 constantly shuts off even when battery is fully charged. I cleaned the filters to see if that was the problem. It only runs for a few seconds before it shuts off. It will run intermittently...

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

From your description of the problem, it sounds as though there is a problem with the battery.

Your DC16 will have been supplied with a 2 year guarantee. If it still within this period, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298. However if your machine is no longer covered, a replacement battery can be purchased via our website at www.dyson.co.uk/store.

Kind regards
Darran

Rainbow e2 2 speed vacuum shuts off after 5 minutes of vacuuming.

2 speed E2 models have a circuit board inside that controls the machine. It sounds like this controller board may be bad. The unfortunate part of this is that the board is not only very expensive, but it is only available from an authorized Rainbow service center.
Use caution if you decide to work on this yourself or if you take it to a service center that is not famliar with these models. The circuit board mentioned above is susceptible to damage from static eclectricity discharge. The static you generate from just walking across a carpet could make this board useless. So, if the original problem is not the board you could make the problem worse.

We have a dyson root cyclone and it shuts off after a about 5 minutes of running. Then after about 10 minutes it will run again.

Your description is typical of a machine that's overheating. This is almost always caused by a blockage, as restricted airflow can't keep the motor cool and the automatic cut-out shuts the machine off. It re-sets itself when it's cooled a bit. Check your operator manual for how to clear blockages, and also check that your filters are clean.

My Shark vacuum sweeper will run for 10 minutes and shut off. After it sets for 15 minutes it will run for 10 minutes more.

If it runs on NiCad batteries it probably has programmed batteries which can happen, best solution, get new battery, and use til dead before recharge, every time.

My hoover vacuum runs for about 10-15 minutes then the saftey feature shuts it off(overheat?). i have taking it apart a cleaned it with no results, added new bag also. after an hour it cools down and works...

Do you have suction through the tools? Does it look like it picks up when it runs? The machine could be clogged and that would cause the problem, but unfortunately the sensor that shuts the machine off could be bad if the machine isnt clogged. Its not easy to get to it, I'd take it to a repair shop.
