Technics SL 1600Mk2 turntable works, but turns off seconds later

The SL1600MK2 is a direct drive turntable. Meaning that there are multiple electronic components which make it turn. With that said, the only place you can start is the main circuit board. Unfortunately, this will not be an easy diagnosis without the proper testing tools - multimeter, and a scope to get you started.

Otherwise, you'll have to take it to a service technican for repair.

Unfortunately, all parts for this model are discontinued, so if it's something that is specific to this unit, it will be very hard to source parts.

Technic 1200mk2 has no speed control

This unit is NOT belt driven. It is direct drive, meaning, that a series of Integrated Circuits (IC's), and various other electronic components control it's speed. If it's going very fast, more than likely one of the IC's (or multiple), have gone bad. You need to take this to a service center for repair.

Technics SL-J1 turntable drive belt

Hello Cliff,
You will need 2 belts, if the turntable belt is gone the other is not far behind . One for the turntable size 23.6 inch by .188 and one for the tracking motor that is in the top cover part, is a 3.0 inch by .046 belt. best place to get them is at kenselectronics.com part numbers 1407-201 and AV-SBS3.0 if you have been checking around you will see other sizes, I have a SL-J1 and have used these and they work perfectly.

Record player belt

Scott, the belt wraps around the bottom of the turntable platter, then put the platter back on your turntable, and you'll have to pinch back a section of the belt and wrap around the brass motor spindle. That's pretty much it!

Good luck.
